Clothes that can give you back pain

What clothes are better to give up for the sake of your own health and beautiful posture.

Scientists of the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) found that 73% of women suffer from back problems. One of the main reasons turned out to be their clothes. And 28% of the women surveyed are aware that their clothing can affect their health and posture, but don’t take this into account when choosing their closet. 33% of women are not aware at all that clothing choices can affect back and neck pain.

5 clothing items that cause back pain

Therapist (BCA) Tim Hutchful writes in comments on the study, “Some of the most popular items of clothing can have hidden health effects. While heavy handbags are a common culprit for illness, some more unexpected items, such as skinny jeans, can also cause harm.”

The “dangerous” closet items include:

  • skinny jeans. Tight pants restrict freedom of movement at the hips and knees, this affects how we hold our body;
  • large one shoulder bags. The load from the bag is not evenly distributed, overloading the spine;
  • High-heeled shoes. The high heel shifts the center of gravity, which leads to additional stress on the spine, in addition, the foot is deformed;
  • shoes without a back, such as mules. They increase the load on the legs and lower back, as there is no support for the back of the foot;
  • ill-fitting underwear. An ill-fitting bra overloads the shoulders, causing back pain.

How to fix the problem?

Tim Hutchful assures that such a conclusion from the study does not at all call to abandon your favorite things forever. You just need to find the right balance: limit the number of times you put on tight jeans or heels. It is necessary for the body to rest.

The association provides a few tips that should be adhered to.

  • Keep a variety in your clothing. Alternate styles so that the body rests from the strain in certain places.
  • Favor loose clothing. Oversize is on trend right now, and tight and narrow clothes restrict the free movement of the body.
  • Free your bag. Heavy bags are a frequent cause of back pain. Regularly make sure your bag is free of unnecessary items so you can control its weight and not overstretch yourself. If you do need to carry a lot of stuff, opt for backpacks. This way you will distribute the load over your entire back.
  • Choose your underwear carefully. Bras should be carefully fitted, so that all the load is not transferred to the shoulders. When you buy underwear, pay attention to the bottom band, it should sit well on the body. Make sure that the clasp fits snugly and the straps do not press on your shoulders.
