5 popular tourist spots that have disappointed travelers

Expectations often don’t match reality, and this is especially true when it comes to traveling. Following popular tourist routes, many people do not realize that they are getting into an adventure. In order not to take away a baggage of unpleasant impressions, some places are better to avoid. Somewhere everything is too expensive, and somewhere too crowded. At least these factors have a negative impact on expectations from the trip: a person realizes that everything does not go according to plan, begins to get nervous. And this does not add health and positive emotions at all.

We have compiled a selection of praised destinations for you, but of course, it is up to you to decide.

These places are in high demand. Most often tourists think of them as ideal and do not want to accept the reality that they have to face. Hence the disappointment upon arrival.

The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China, one of the largest landmarks in the world, is surrounded by mystery and legends. It is said that the structure can be seen from space – and even if this is not true, the crowd of tourists around the architectural monument from orbit can certainly be discerned. Millions of travelers visit the unique creation every day, and together with them you will be trapped in the walls for at least a few hours.

The total length of the wall is almost 9000 km – to make you understand the “scale of the tragedy”, about the same distance from Moscow to California. People with oxygen deficiency will find it difficult to walk at least part of this route. After all, because of the stuffiness in the crowd, even quite healthy tourists may experience heart palpitations, shortness of breath, and a feeling of shortness of breath. Of course, this is a truly unique place, but if you can not tolerate pandemonium or cramped spaces, it is worth limiting yourself to visiting less “hackneyed” sights of China (and there are plenty of them there).

Eiffel Tower

Caleria: Many people dream of being at the foot of the most recognizable place in this city, eating specialty croissants overlooking the landmark and admiring the Champs Elysees. But when you see Paris for the first time, you get a bit lost, as the fairy tale does not coincide with reality. Dirty subway, a large number of homeless people on the street, pickpockets. It is also disheartening that two years ago a fire engulfed one of the most beautiful cathedrals, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Paris. The Eiffel Tower pleases tourists only for the first 10 minutes. And the prices, it must be said, are higher here than in Russia. In general, Paris is not as impressive as we would like it to be.

Niagara Falls

If you dream of sailing to Niagara Falls on a ship like Jim Carrey in the movie “Bruce Almighty”, you will be disappointed. A walk around the neighborhood of the natural location is nowhere near as romantic as it may seem at first glance. You can see the waterfall up close, of course, but when you get close to it, you will instantly get wet. So taking selfies against the background of the natural wonder is not an easy task. Raincoats are given out there, but they do not save from strong wind because of water streams. Plus, many people make a mistake and do not take a change of clothes with them. And in wet and damp you can catch a cold even in warm weather. Therefore, those who are especially chilly should take care of it in advance or admire the waterfall from the side.

Acropolis of Athens

Kaleria: Athens, the capital of Greece, is home to one of the most popular tourist destinations, the Acropolis of Athens, where the Parthenon, a monument of ancient architecture, is located. The history of Athens gets a bit lost when you leave the old center – the city is crowded with migrants and a bit dirty. It’s hard to find a good and clean beach by the Aegean Sea. Also, the locals may go on a workers strike and you won’t be able to use the metro. In this case you can only order a cab, and the prices here are European. Simply put – stress, nerves and extra money.

Jumeirah Beach Residence.

For many people Dubai is a vacation in the style of “expensive-rich”. And that’s partly true – most of the resorts here are not affordable for everyone, and that’s why beaches like Jumeirah Beach Residence are packed with tourists. Especially a lot of people here in the season: you can squeeze through, of course, but the unpleasant residue will remain.

Kaleria: In Dubai it is very hard to breathe during the day, it is stuffy and hot, at night it is a little easier. The city of skyscrapers is more created to drive a car – you can’t walk and run there. Because of the sandstorms, you can’t see all the skyscrapers during the day, and you don’t even realize what there is to be happy about. The shopping centers are also crowded and stuffy.
