The stereotype “boxing is not a woman’s business” has long since begun to lose its relevance. In modern gyms and sections of martial arts, girls have become a far from rare phenomenon. The weaker sex wanted to become stronger. This summer girls were able to attend kickboxing classes free of charge at adidas BASEMOSCOW and learn from the best masters of the sports club“BOBO” during the whole July.
With the desire to try something new “Championship” visited one of the kickboxing classes in Gorky Park and talked to professional coach Roman Khasamutdinov about what women’s kickboxing is today.
Breaking stereotypes
Indeed, according to the coach, there are many more female clients in fight clubs than there used to be. A good half of boxers are girls. And maybe we should go beyond the usual and look at such a tough sport from the other side?
Roman Khasamutdinov: “Don’t live in stereotypes that boxing is only a sport where they punch in the face and break noses. Kickboxing is a really good cardio load, which allows you to keep an eye on your physical shape. Kickboxing, so to speak, also dries out the body. Thanks to such training a girl can get in good shape and get the desired figure”.
And to finally destroy the usual myth about the exclusively male beginning of boxing, we will say that even fragile looking and delicate Victoria Secret models are engaged in it, and for many they are the standard of beauty and femininity.
Quality load on all muscle groups
Kickboxing pumps absolutely all muscle groups: it involves arms, abs, legs and back. During the classes you are constantly on the move, so one thing is certain: you can’t “overpump”.
Roman Khasamutdinov: “Kickboxing does not make muscles big: it makes them small, dry and very strong. Due to the fact that the load is intense, not slow, the muscles are stretched out”.
It’s a great emotional release
There’s nothing like a punching bag to help release the aggression that’s built up because of certain life circumstances. And that’s not a joke!
– Boxing is also a very good release, which allows you to leave all the negative emotions in the gym. You come out of there peaceful, with a light head, you are doing very well. You even look at some problems a little differently.
And I will tell you from personal experience that the theory of emotional release works quite well: I came out of kickboxing training in Gorky Park very happy and satisfied.
By the way, girls mostly don’t have to talk about powerful blows and the possibility to cripple their partner during the training. When asked whether the girls hit hard, Roman answered:
– No(laughs). Girls hit beautifully, they know how to do everything beautifully!
However, there were cases when the phrase “Imagine that nasty girl!” still made me work with more force.
The main thing is to listen to the coach and internalize the technique
As in any sport, the first advice for those who want to take up boxing – follow the advice of your mentor! After all, he will always help you and tell you how to perform this or that exercise. At BASEMOSCOW girls did not hesitate to ask for help or advice on technique, because the coach understands everything and is always ready to help.
Moreover, the initial technique must be mastered without fail, even if it seems boring to you.
– In the beginning, when you come to training, it can be a little tedious and boring, because the school of kickboxing begins, the basis. That is, there is the establishment of a certain technique. Without this, there will be no progression in the future. Therefore, the beginning should be endured, – advises Roman.
All ages are amenable to boxing
If in figure skating or gymnastics at the age of 27 you risk becoming a veteran, kickboxing is different:
– We have, so to speak, a diverse group. There are small girls of 16-17 years old, and adults. Now, for example, a woman came to my group, she is doing very, very well – she is 46 years old.
The only thing that is not recommended – to attend training with a bad back (perhaps with a problem spine, lower back). Due to the fact that the lion’s share of exercises involves the body and you have to twist it all the time, it is better not to joke with a bad back. It is necessary to pump its muscles and strengthen the stabilizer muscles.
