All according to plan: how to make your trip unforgettable?

We don’t want to sound pessimistic, but let’s face it: no trip is 100 percent successful without a good plan. Travel checklist has long become one of the main tools of an experienced traveler: it helps to build a cool itinerary, focus on what is really worth seeing or trying, and simply to allocate time wisely during the trip. It’s very easy to make your own checklist: nowadays all the most interesting checkpoints of any city can be easily googled or found in apps.

Madrid, Spain

● The Casa de la Panaderia, a former bakery building that sits off Madrid’s main square. Here you can feel all the romantic atmosphere of the past, admire the unique interior, and enjoy the beautiful view of the Main Square.

● Crystal Palace in Retiro Park, which is located in the heart of Madrid. This architectural marvel is built entirely of glass and metal. It literally shines through and sparkles in the sun like real rock crystal.

If you’ve been to Madrid and haven’t tried churros, you haven’t been to Madrid! This delicious national delicacy is sold in literally every pastry shop here.

Rome, Italy

Capitoline Hill is the political and religious “heart” of Rome. It’s worth a visit to feel a part of the Eternal City’s history for a moment.

● Bartolucci’s store is a must-see store, if not to buy as a souvenir, at least to see with your own eyes. The Bartolucci dynasty has been creating amazing wooden toys and souvenirs for decades, turning the store into a veritable museum.

● Italians say that the most delicious Italian ice cream, gelato, is sold at the Blue Ie gelateria. It’s worth checking out!

Budapest, Hungary

● The Hungarian Parliament building is Budapest’s calling card. To miss it on your trip is a real crime.

● The Chain Bridge connects Buda and Pest, separated by the Danube. A very beautiful and atmospheric place that is recommended to visit twice: day and night, to enjoy both the daytime grandeur and the night illumination of the bridge.

To get a taste of Budapest, you should order goulash at any establishment with ethnic cuisine. Here, this hearty meat dish is quite different from the parodies prepared in other countries.

Stockholm, Sweden

● Stockholm’s subway is rightly considered one of the city’s most interesting sights. Each station pavilion is a whole new world, and it’s impossible to guess where you’ll end up next: on a shiny metal platform of the future, or in a cave of fairy trolls.

● A rooftop tour is a must on a trip to Stockholm. Who knows, you might not only get to enjoy the views of the city, but also stumble upon Carlson’s real house!

By the way, canelbulle – the cinnamon buns that Carlson loved so much – are best enjoyed in Stockholm, the birthplace of this dessert.

Manchester, England

Manchester Town Hall is located in the very center of the city. You have seen the tower of this town hall many times in movies and TV shows, where it is successfully passed off as the Palace of Westminster.

● The Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester is one of a kind. This city is the industrial center of Great Britain, and history and science are treated with the utmost care. A visit to this place is a must at the very least to indulge your inner scientist!

● Various types of street food are very popular in Manchester. It is delicious, cheap and varied. Even those committed to eating right will find dishes to their liking.

You can add to our checklists or create your own from scratch – either way, you can enjoy your trip to the fullest! Structure and planning are key to a great trip.

The cities in our selection are chosen for a reason – they are the starting points of the international student project Red Bull Can You Make It. If you too want to travel to Europe and cross it from Budapest to Amsterdam, register your team.

Have a good trip and don’t forget to share your checklists on social networks: maybe you will give someone your favorite and unforgettable route!
