Much has been written about things you shouldn’t do before and during a workout. But after a workout, most of the time we get into all the fun stuff. Let’s be honest: after a workout, we sometimes allow ourselves something forbidden. You should definitely feel good after a hard workout, but that doesn’t mean you can gulp down a burger or drink a soda.

Being healthy is a habit that extends far beyond the gym. Don’t discount all the hard work, sweat and tears you put into pumping iron by committing these “sins.”
Don’t starve yourself for too long
After an intense exercise session, the body needs nutrients, especially amino acids and carbohydrates. The body needs to repair damaged muscle cells and the nervous system. Try to go without food after a workout for no longer than 30-60 minutes. Eat a healthy and balanced diet.
Don’t eat everything
Try to opt for complex carbohydrates, protein and lean foods. The goal of the post-workout meal is to get carbohydrates and amino acids into the bloodstream as quickly as possible so they can be distributed to muscle cells.
Don’t overload your body
In an ideal world, everyone would take a nap for about an hour right after a workout to help the muscles and nervous system recover. But for most people, this simply isn’t possible. We recommend avoiding physical activity after class. You need some time to just sit back, relax, and eat comfortably. Exercising with weights will only be effective if the body gets enough rest to allow the body to recover.
Do not stop drinking water
The body needs to replace the water it has lost. After an activity where you sweat profusely or exercise for more than an hour, drink a beverage that replaces electrolytes. This can be coconut water, an isotonic, or an amino acid complex. Sports drinks are very sweet, so you should drink them if you are doing endurance training. Otherwise, it is better to drink water or drinks with low sugar content.
