How to properly wipe your smartphone to keep yourself safe from germs

What modern gadget do we use most often in modern life, almost never letting go of our hands and leaning against our faces? Of course, a smartphone, which accumulates a colossal amount of bacteria on its body. With this device we go to places of different degrees of pollution, and simply put – everywhere. It turns out that the most necessary means of communication is a carrier of viruses. What to do about it and how to protect the gadget from unwanted “guests”?

Smartphone is dirtier than a toilet

Scientists from the University of Surrey even calculated that the body of a smartphone accumulates 18 times more bacteria than the flush button in a public toilet. Where exactly the experts conducted their research is another question. Perhaps in some cases this difference may be greater or lesser, but it’s unlikely that the study was limited to one specific smartphone and one public restroom.

Sanitize

Coronavirus can be among the bacteria on a smartphone. It can live on metal, glass, and plastic for days, retaining the ability to infect. The fact is that smartphones do need external cleaning, not just software cleaning.

What will it take to sanitize your phone?

The kit will be small:

  • soft microfiber cloth or handkerchiefs, which are recommended for wiping eyeglass lenses;
  • wet and dry wipes;
  • cleaning agent.

That’s all, perhaps. This is more than enough to clean your smartphone.
As a cleaning agent, you can use what comes with monitors or TVs. Its composition is safe for any smartphone, the main thing is not to spray directly on the screen or housing. Do not use glass cleaners.

What you can do without is handkerchiefs, toilet paper, kitchen or any other towels. And in general, without any material that leaves lint on the case and screen. But this is an ideal case. Sometimes any cloth is better than nothing.

Wiping and polishing

The process itself is extremely simple.

First, you need to turn off the gadget. Then wipe the smartphone with a soft cloth and remove all small particles that can leave scratches. After that, wipe the screen and the body (including the cameras!) with a cloth moistened with a small amount of cleaner, and then polish everything with a dry cloth. That’s it, basically. It couldn’t be simpler.

How often should this procedure be carried out? Here everyone decides for himself.
Ideally, you need to wipe the screen once a day, but completely clean the smartphone is enough and once a week.
But it is important to remember that for oleophobic coating on smartphone screens friction is an undesirable procedure. The stronger it is, the faster the grease-repellent nano-layer is erased and the faster the gadget will eventually get dirty. If you want to bring your smartphone to perfect cleanliness to capture all the connectors and speakers, it is better to take the device to a service.

Ultraviolet fashion

Another option is a special ultraviolet container.

With the help of radiation, 99.9% of all bacteria are destroyed. This is a reliable method of disinfection, but in the Net there are already reviews that after such experiments smartphones began to glitch. But such comments of these few.

It is not enough to clean the smartphone – you can not forget about the cases. Clean covers can be cleaned with any available method – it is not as complex a device as a smartphone. At least the usual water and soap, or alcohol, or just a damp cloth to scrub off. But if it starts to get dirty quickly, the case is better to change.

And in general, according to experts, the more carefully you monitor the cleanliness of your own hands, the cleaner your smartphone will be.
