جدول المحتويات

USA

The largest number of stadiums – 367 and an average of 56, 54 medals at the Olympic Games belong to the USA. Seven years ago, the country was in seventh place. Perhaps the country’s hosting of World Championships in several sports contributed to the change.

American soccer is gaining the most popularity. The United States has the smallest percentage of traditional soccer fans. But broadcasts of NBA basketball league matches gather thousands of fans in front of their TV sets.

Russia

Second place for Russia is probably a logical result. Despite its vast territory, the country is precariously in the lead. Back in 2018, it was overtaken by the much smaller Norway.

The recent doping scandals will probably affect the country’s place in the ranking next year. After all, because of unsatisfactory results of anti-doping tests, the WADA executive committee suspended Russia from international competitions for four years. Although the country’s average is 45, 67 medals.

China

In the 2010s, the country often took the leading position due to the fact that it held several major competitions at once: the Olympic and Paralympic Asian Games, and the Universiade. Therefore, even now China is holding on to the third place.

Of the most developed sports, many people have probably heard about wushu, qigong, taijiquan. However, not only martial arts are popular in the country. A large part of the population, regardless of age, jogs and does yoga every day.

Germany

According to statistics, eight out of ten Germans have a bicycle, which makes the overall sports level of the country high. Moreover, the German national team is a three-time winner of the FIFA World Cup and twice the host country of the championship. Germany also holds the fourth position in the results of all Summer Olympics.

The oldest and most popular sport here is tennis. Germany has the largest number of tennis organizations in the world, with almost two million members.

France

France succeeds in several sports at once: the national soccer team is the reigning world champion, the national rugby team is the winner of several awards, one of the most successful in the world, not missing a single World Cup.

France is also home to snowboarding on the Alps, the national team game of Petanque, and cycling tournaments. The country has not missed a single Olympic Games and will host the competition in 2024 in Paris.
