Becoming a god: how to look just like Chris Hemsworth

If you’ve ever seen a Marvel movie, you’re unlikely to forget Chris Hemsworth, the actor who played the role of Thor. The God of Thunder was the apotheosis of the Australian’s career, and to this day many people know him exclusively for this role. However, few people know that by nature skinny and tall guy had to train for hours to meet the bar. Good thing that next to Chris was a loyal school friend Luke Zocchi, who became his personal trainer. It was he who told the audience how to be a Thor.

Where to start training?

Luke Zocchi believes that for people who are just starting out, a good starting point would be a 20-minute workout three times a week. Speaking of specific exercises, the coach favors the simplest combinations with your own body weight at the start:

  • Push-ups;
  • Pull-ups;
  • Plank;
  • Twists (lifting the torso from the supine position);
  • Burpees;
  • Rock climbing;
  • Plyometric squats.

The main thing is that you should enjoy your workouts – don’t exhaust your body, increase and decrease the intensity of your workouts depending on how you feel. Your trainer says that a session where you feel sweaty and tired is a session well spent.

How important is nutrition?

Diet and exercise work together on your body, notes Zocchi. You can’t gain mass, no matter how hard you train, if you don’t get enough protein. You have to watch what’s on your plate, so the best solution is to do your own cooking, Luke says.

Without proper nutrition, we wouldn’t have achieved these results. Chris’s diet was adjusted for each subsequent role. Before the next movie about Thor Chris daily consumed about four thousand calories. Before the tape “In the Heart of the Sea” – no more than a thousand. He did not eat for 15 hours and eventually lost 14 pounds of muscle. Then it was “Thor” again and again muscle mass gain. All this is quite a serious load, including psychological. That’s why I was always with Chris, losing weight with him to support him and, of course, rewarding him for his efforts: once a week he was allowed to eat whatever he wanted.

Of course, you can also achieve your goals by buying ready-made food, but it will cost you a lot of money, whereas you won’t spend more than 20 minutes cooking.

Where to find motivation?

The main motivation is to see your own progress. Keep looking in the mirror after each workout and when you realize that you see a shift in the positive side, you will realize that everything was not in vain. After a while, training will become a habit and you won’t live without it – you’ll feel sluggish and tired.

Learn to find your own stimuli. Don’t wait for someone to push you to workout.

A fitness app from Chris and Luke

The sports software market is ready to offer you an endless number of workout apps, but the men assure that their product is unique and effective. The guys tried to create a “Health and Fitness Encyclopedia” where they put all their acquired knowledge. The app includes three fundamental pillars of sport and health: training, nutrition and mental training.

The app is suitable for the general public: in it you will find short workouts of 20-30 minutes, their variability is amazing – you can find here both Pilates and Crossfit. Moreover, for the most dedicated Thor fans, Luke and Chris have launched a 10-week program called Centr Power, a course that includes 90% of what Hemsworth does to prepare for the role. The program has three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
