This is not at all a reason to be disappointed in fitness. The point is that not always the popular opinion is true. We have compiled a list of exercises that have gained their popularity completely undeservedly.

Body pain after exercise is not an indicator of quality. If you beat you with sticks, your body will also ache, but it doesn’t mean you’ve pumped something up.

Plank for longer than 30 seconds

You can find hundreds of sports plans on the internet that advise standing in the plank for as long as possible. This exercise is designed to work the cortical muscles. And they enter the phase of active workout only for the first 20-30 seconds.

After this time, the effectiveness of the exercise disappears and the load from it is transferred to the nearest joints and muscles. For them, in turn, this load is uncharacteristic, and because of this we suffer, standing in the bar for five minutes. This was recently discovered by Canadian scientist Stuart McGill.

This exercise looks aesthetically pleasing, it can often be seen in advertisements of fitness centers or in selections on various websites. It seems so attractive. Eliminate laxity on the inner thigh without getting up from your seat – great!

However, in reality, everything turns out to be not so simple and rosy. Not only will it only enlarge the legs, not remove excess fat from them, but it can also harm the athlete’s body.

The exercise is predominantly female, and it is often chosen by poorly trained girls with flabby pelvic floor muscles. These muscles can easily be overloaded by performing leg curls in the exercise machine. Overloading will lead to injury. And if you remember that you can not achieve slender and graceful legs with this exercise, you can safely abandon it.

To work the oblique muscles of the abs, this exercise is completely useless, although it is designed for this very purpose. It does not make the muscles contract, because of which its effectiveness tends to zero. However, this does not prevent it from being a threat to the lumbar region. After all, an unstable lumbar region is extremely vulnerable when twisting, and even under the pressure of a barbell. It is very easy to get a pinch, sprain or something worse. So you can safely say goodbye to this exercise.
