How do you recover from an intense workout?

Rebooting and getting rid of unpleasant consequences is easier than we thought.

In order to achieve the dream body, you have to make sacrifices. After strength training, the whole body can be sore, for a few days you do not even want to move. But it can be avoided! We tell you about five ways that will help you fully recover from intense exercise.

Hot procedures

Sauna is available in almost every fitness club. Visiting a steam room after a tiring workout is really useful, but the most important thing is not to overdo it and do not stay in it for more than 15 minutes. Hot temperature increases blood flow and removes harmful substances from the body, which helps to recover from physical exertion.

If there is no possibility to visit a sauna, you can take a warm bath at home and add Epsom salt to it. Epsom salt consists of magnesium, which plays a major role in the cardiovascular system. It will be absorbed into the skin and fill the body with beneficial minerals.

Stretching

Since stretching should only be practiced when the muscles are sufficiently warmed up, it will be a perfect addition. Stretching works to lengthen the muscles, so it will help speed up the recovery period after strength training. Also during the exercises, heart rate and blood pressure will come to normal, flexibility will be developed additionally, and pain sensations will go away. Do not forget about the removal of emotional stress after a difficult day.

Green tea

After a workout, it is especially important to drink more, because during exercise the body loses a lot of water. The best drink for you will be green tea. It’s all about the chemicals it contains. They are called catechins. Thanks to them, fat burning and thermogenesis are stimulated. In other words, tea will “finish” your workout for you, and also restore water balance.

Sleep

If you ask any athlete what helps the most to recover from a hard workout, he will most likely answer: “Sleep”. It’s important to develop a certain routine: get up and go to sleep at the same time, even on weekends. It is recommended to go to bed no later than 11 pm and wake up no later than 10 am. Good sleep restores the nervous system, brings order to breathing and heartbeat. Do not forget that adequate rest should last at least eight hours.

Massage and self-massage

For some, massage is the only way to recover from strength training. It accelerates the delivery of nutrients in the body, increases blood circulation, removes harmful substances and relaxes muscles. But in this case it is very important to find a competent specialist who will definitely not harm.

Since visiting a masseur is sometimes not possible, you can do it yourself at home. For this you will need a special foam roller or a wooden roller massager.
