The guard decided that it was impossible to do sports there.

Moscow resident Konstantin Konovalov told in his “Twitter” that the guard of the park in the city center prohibits him from running on the territory of the park. The situation was resolved only after the intervention of the media. Now it is possible to run in the park.

June 8, designer Konstantin Konovalov went jogging in the Osip Bove Park near Strastnoy Boulevard. The park is an object of cultural heritage and is located on the territory of the Moscow City Council. In this regard, the park is open to the public only on weekends. At the entrance to the park there is a metal detector and security guards. When Konstantin came to the park for a Saturday jog, the guard came up to him and warned him that it was not allowed to run in the park, because it belongs to the objects of cultural heritage, and running in it is the same as running in a museum.

The next day the situation was repeated:

During the next run – on June 12 – there were considerably more guards. Among other things, they had complaints about the water bottle lying on the bench.

The next weekend the runner was again closely followed.

On June 20, the Moscow 24 TV channel drew attention to the situation. In the story the head of the Moscow City Duma Committee on Culture Evgeny Gerasimov says that it is possible to run in the park, and the guard probably does not work here anymore.

According to Konstantin Konovalov, after the story in the media claims to running in the park stopped. The official inquiries he sent to the Moscow mayor’s office and Moscow City Council have not yet received a response.

Lawyer Denis Kostin confirmed that such a ban is unlawful, as the park is a public place and you can do anything there that does not contradict the Constitution and the law.

By the way, there is a similar ban in the Summer Garden in St. Petersburg. It is even written in the rules at the entrance to the park.
