Gurus in the business world say, “Knowing the why will stand up to any how.” And before we talk about how to dress, let’s understand the why. By understanding why, you will be able to incorporate logic and your taste on your own, without additional help.

The right image is needed not only at an official event, but also at a sporting event. Dress code will help you to be appropriate and show your belonging to the community. Together with the stylist we tell you why it is important and how to dress if you go to hockey or soccer.

Dress code – from the English “dress code” – a code of dress, a form of clothing required when attending certain events and establishments.

In literal translation it means “coded language of clothes”, that is, it contains a direct indication that any clothing has a certain message and is designed to cause certain thoughts and associations.

Why a dress code is necessary

Culture and respect for others

A person dressed in accordance with the rules and requirements of the place he came to, thus demonstrates his respect for the people around him. If a person defiantly does not follow the rules, he is certainly somewhat disrespectful of the society in which he has found himself. As Pierre Cardin said:

A well-dressed man is a man who is considered to be a man who is considered to be respectful of himself and others.

Information about you

A person’s appearance is the first step to success, as his image serves as a code indicating the degree of reliability, respectability and understanding of where and with whom he is.

Self-discipline

A dress code promotes self-discipline and creates a certain mood for your own sake. You have to agree that the feeling and mood in a strict business suit and in shorts with slippers are significantly different.

How to make sure you are properly dressed:

  1. Picture the target audience/ format/ context/ seasonality/ weather and reflect: is it appropriate, will it fit, will it be accepted?
  2. Following the dress code and adhering to the rules enhances an important image marker – respectability. Does the chosen closet carry this message?

The first and most important thing to remember is that any sporting event is first and foremost a sport. Which means I would recommend focusing on the sport-chic style. This style states that this is in no way the clothes you wear to the gym, for example. Yes, it’s still sportswear, but adapted to the city.

Going to a soccer game? Well, the foundation of logic is laid, now to creativity. What to wear if you’re invited to a soccer match. A soccer field is often an open field. Make sure you are dressed not only comfortably and stylishly, but also warmly. What it can be:

Denim (jeans/skirt below the knee), t-shirt (a soccer jersey will look cool), sweatshirt or hoodie, baseball cap. For colder seasons – down jacket, insulated boots, hat, don’t forget gloves. For soccer games, a belt bag is best. Frees up your hands for sudden jumps of joy and fan waves.

Going to a hockey game? It’s cool at the ice any time of year, but ice arenas are more often still indoor venues. We add coziness to sports-chic, which means a suit consisting of sporty cotton joggers and a hoodie with fleece, a down vest, a hat (preferably with a bubon) and sneakers/urban sneakers with thick soles. A scarf and gloves won’t be superfluous, and if they are, a backpack can keep the accessories safe until the end of the match.

In both cases, don’t forget about fan paraphernalia. After all, you came to support the team. And it will look like a bright accent in the completed image.

It is worth taking care of your health in advance, if you like walking even in the cold. Read more about how to protect yourself from the cold at this link.
