Some people start the morning with a fragrant drink, while others gather guests for a cup of tea and hearty conversation. But is there any drink tastier and healthier than tea?
You can replace classic varieties of tea with healthy tisanes. Tisanes are eco-friendly herbal drinks without caffeine and tea leaves in their composition. A small amount of oolong (a type of tea) can be found in rare tisanes.
Otherwise, tisanes are 99.9% composed of natural herbs, berries, seeds, roots, and medicinal flowers.
Tisanes should not be confused with herbal collections from the pharmacy. Tizans are fragrant blended teas without chemical additives from selected and environmentally friendly raw materials, which can be brewed as a regular bag tea.
What are tisanes
Depending on the main raw material, tisanes can be:
- herbal;
- fruity;
- floral;
- mixed.
As phyto raw materials are used:
- herbs – melissa, mint, lemongrass;
- roots – ginger, echinacea, chicory, turmeric;
- fruits – peach, apple, plum, fig;
- berries – raspberry, blueberry, currant, cranberry;
- flowers – rose, chamomile, hibiscus, lavender;
- bark – cinnamon, slippery elm, black cherry bark, oak bark;
- seeds – cardamom, caraway, fennel, dill.
Teas are categorized into medicinal, prophylactic and everyday teas.
Therapeutic and preventive teas can be added to the diet of children, they have a preventive effect against colds and ARVI, normalize sleep and appetite. The composition of children’s phyto tea includes such herbs and berries:
- fennel;
- chamomile;
- anise;
- melissa;
- linden blossom;
- peppermint;
- thyme;
- bilberry;
- rosehip;
- red and black currants;
- raspberries;
- blackberries;
- strawberries;
- apples;
- apricots.
Popular “everyday” tisanes include drinks made from:
- hibiscus (carcade);
- kypreya (Ivan-chai);
- Tatar buckwheat (ku qiao);
- clitoria trifoliate (anchan);
- Aspalatus linearis (rooibos).
When using any tea it is necessary to remember: the main criteria for using the healing power of plants should be moderation and caution. Therefore, read the instructions before use and do not abuse the tea. The optimal number of cups of tea per day – no more than three.
- Vitamin – everyday teas in the cold season, which will provide a vitamin boost to the body. This category of tisanes includes teas based on rose hips, rowanberries, currant leaves and blueberries.
How to brew tisanes
The benefits of the drink are revealed when brewed correctly. Strictly follow the tea brewing recommendations on the package. Tizans can be poured both hot and cold water, increasing the infusion time to seven hours in the refrigerator.
You can choose a convenient tea format: portioned cubes, filter packets, or loose leaf. Here are some recipes for healthy and delicious tisanes.
Ginger tea
You will need:
- ginger – 1 piece 4-5 cm long;
- cinnamon – to taste
- black pepper – to taste;
- water – 1 liter.
Peel and slice a small piece of ginger, throw it into boiling water and cook for 10 minutes. Remove from heat, season with cinnamon and black pepper. Drink warm, you can add a slice of lemon and mint.
Ginger tea with mint
You will need:
- fresh ginger root – 2 tsp;
- lemon – 1/3 pcs;
- mint leaves – to taste;
- water – 4 cups.
In a small saucepan pour water, pour grated ginger, stir. Put the pot on low heat, bring to a boil and cook for 15 minutes. Remove from heat, add mint and cover with a lid. Drink tea is recommended 30 minutes before meals 2-3 times a day. The drink is good for strengthening the immune system and speeds up the metabolism.
Tea from fenugreek seeds
You will need:
- fenugreek seeds – 1 tsp;
- cinnamon – 1 stick or a pinch;
- water – 200 ml.
Pour all the ingredients with boiling water, insist 20 minutes or briefly boil. Drink three times a day for 15-20 minutes before meals.
Such a drink helps to maintain stable blood sugar levels and the health of the pancreas.
Chamomile tea
Crushed inflorescences of pharmacy chamomile pour boiling water, cover with a lid and leave to brew for about half an hour.
Tea from chamomile flowers has a sweet fruity flavor and a pronounced alkalizing and anti-inflammatory effect. The drink calms the nervous system, has antibacterial action against a number of pathogenic bacteria, including E. coli, streptococci and staphylococci.
