Real bogatyrs: 5 strongest men in Russia

What metric in sports determines a man’s strength? It is the maximum weight he can lift. There are such sports as strongman and powerlifting, the essence of which is to work with heavy weight and train endurance. In Russia there are quite a few of such bogatyrs, let’s see who is among the five strongest according to the TOP-10 portal.

5th place: Alexey Serebryakov

Or, as he is also called by the people – Silver Bogatyr. The strongman, who took the fifth place in the top, was born in Chelyabinsk. He was engaged in sports all his conscious life. It was not some additional hobby, on the contrary, since his childhood, sport was an integral part of him.

Alexei started his way in professional sports with bodybuilding, but it did not greatly fascinated the athlete, and he found himself in powerlifting. Already at the age of 14 Serebryakov could squat with the weight of about 150 kg, and by 17 he fulfilled the nomination of Master of Sports of Russia and squatted with the weight of 292.5 kg. At the age of 18 the athlete broke the junior record of Russia at the national championship and squatted with a barbell of 360 kg!

Being an active powerlifter, Serebryakov got an injury, after which he decided to retrain in power extreme. Now the athlete competes in Strongman competitions and can sit down with a weight of 425 kg.

4th place: Andrey Belyaev

This Russian bogatyr takes the fourth place in our rating. He is a master of sports of international class, repeated record holder and champion of Russia and Europe.

Andrey was born in the small town of Zuevka, Kirov region, and from the age of 14 he started practicing sports. At the age of 16 his first competitions took place, which determined the professional choice of the future athlete. In 2002 Belyaev became world champion in powerlifting among juniors. The best indicator of the athlete – squats with a weight of 430 kg.

3rd place: Vladimir Bondarenko

His name is very famous in the world of powerlifting. He was part of the “golden” Russian national team in this sport, which won the competitions for 8 years in a row. In 2007 he retired from the sport, however, speaking about powerlifting, his Vladimir is remembered not only by the athlete’s compatriots, but also by foreigners.

2nd place: Elbrus Nigmatullin

Elbrus received the title of Master of Sports of the Russian Federation in powerlifting already at the age of 19. In 2005 he became the champion in the competition “The Strongest Man of the Planet” and rightfully received this title. On the account of the athlete several records, entered in the Guinness Book of Records.

Born in the Russian village of Chubary, Argayashsky District, Chelyabinsk Region, the athlete began to play sports at the age of 12. From the age of 21, he began to professionally engage in strength sports – powerlifting, armwrestling, weightlifting, and a little later, a strongman.

In the fall of 2020, Nigmatullin set a new record by pulling a 36-ton Boeing 25 meters in 44.58 seconds. Just imagine the scale!

1st place: Mikhail Koklyaev

The deserved first place was awarded to the strongest Russian bogatyr – Mikhail Koklyaev. He is 8 times champion of Russia in weightlifting in the weight category over 105 kg and master of sports of the international class in weightlifting.

Mikhail entered the world of athletic sports at the age of 13, and at the age of 16 he already fulfilled the standard of Master of Sports. At the age of 20 he received the title of Master of Sports International Class. In 2005 he came to power extreme and became famous for his achievements, taking prizes at competitions. Repeatedly set world records.

Absolute record holder of Russia in the deadlift – 417.5 kg. This is the weight of almost two loaded motorcycles!
