Fitness club membership has long taken its place of honor in your bag, and regular training in the gym exhausted to the limit, but the extra fat does not even think to leave your sides. What to do and why does this happen? In our selection, we’ll look at the top 5 most common reasons that prevent you from losing weight.

Reason 1. You’re not counting liquid calories and snacks

Explaining to a thin person about the need to count calories makes no sense. But what if you count them incorrectly, and therefore seriously underestimate the caloric content of your diet? After all, a glass of lemonade, milk or a cup of latte contains not a few calories.

To give you an example:

  • latte – 350 ml / 135 kCal
  • a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice – 100 ml / 47 kCal
  • a glass of cola – 250 ml / 110 kCal.

In addition, it is possible that you do not count all sorts of small things, like one cookie at lunch or a couple of sweets for tea. With such snacks you can easily gain a decent amount of extra calories during the day.

Reason 2. You don’t watch your diet

Beautiful abs are created in the kitchen, not in the gym. And it’s hard to argue with this truth. You can jump up to your heart rate on group fitness programs, do numerous burpees and lunges, but never get the long-awaited result.

There is absolutely no magic in the weight loss process: as long as you consume fewer calories than you spend, you lose weight. Of course, you should also take into account the quality of these calories, because a chocolate bar and an equal calorie chicken breast with vegetables will energize you for a different amount of time.

Reason 3. Hormones

Hormonal failure – a thing quite dangerous, it is most difficult to recognize it in yourself without the necessary tests and consultation with a doctor. The most important thing in such a case: listen to your body. If you have been eating for a long time with a caloric deficit, weighing each portion and monitoring the quality of the food consumed, and the weight stands still or grows, do not hesitate and consult a doctor as soon as possible. Remember that hormonal disruptions can cause problems much more serious than being overweight.

Reason 4. You are not exercising enough or not doing it correctly

Just because you bought a fitness membership doesn’t mean anything. You may be sparing yourself too much or working out in the wrong heart rate zones to help you burn fat. That’s why it’s so important to create a proper workout plan at the very beginning and do a test workout with a professional trainer. In addition to this, most fitness clubs will offer you a fitness test, and its results will help the trainer to make a plan that takes into account all your individual characteristics.

Reason 5. You’ve cut back too much on caloric intake of foods

Intense workouts and overly strict calorie restrictions are incompatible. If you really work up a sweat, you simply need to compensate for the calories you consume in a timely manner.

A well-planned diet will help you avoid dietary breakdowns and make your weight loss results long-lasting. Scientists call the result of rigid diets “the yo-yo effect”: you throw a toy, and it is sure to come back to you. The same thing happens with weight.
