Three days sat on a juice diet and lost 2.5 kg. Personal story and doctor’s opinion

I love to eat good food, especially sweets. Many of you probably know how hard it is to give up your favorite foods and switch to a healthy lifestyle. My main desire was to lose weight and cleanse my body of toxins, as well as get rid of the rash on my back.

While researching possible methods of detox, I came across scientific material with body studies of participants with various diagnoses. I was unpleasantly surprised by video reviews of colonoscopy (a method of examining the mucous membranes of the colon and rectum), and I seriously considered changing my diet.

From the words of scientists I noted for myself the main advantages of cleansing the body through restrictions in the diet: improvement of the liver, kidneys and colon, immune system, lymphatic and circulatory system, skin and hair.

It should be noted here that diets are not for me at all. Yes, I know that with the help of a nutritionist you can build a system of proper nutrition individually for a person, but still I perceive it as a limitation and constantly break down.

I was looking for the most comfortable and safe way to lose a couple of extra kg, but not to deprive the body of important nutrients.

A secondary criterion for me was support, as it perfectly motivates for results. The ideal option was a three-day cleansing program on juices from fruits and vegetables, without solid food.

Throughout the course, the mentors and doctors kept in touch with me. There was also a chat room with participants to share experiences. This helped me to stay on track for the first time.

Despite the fact that it was scary to do the detox, the course was easy. I lost 2.5 kg in three days and felt comfortable and energetic. Also after completing the program, the rash on my back decreased significantly.

Now I do detox courses regularly. So it is easier for me to follow the recommendations on proper nutrition. I do not call anyone to such methods, this is just my experience, which suits me in all parameters and gives the desired result.

Doctor’s opinion

nutritionist, gastroenterologist, candidate of medical sciences, clinical pharmacologist

While there may be some benefits to including freshly squeezed beverages in a balanced diet, relying solely on juices as a source of nutrition is problematic for several reasons.

First, such a diet lacks key macronutrients, such as proteins and fats, vital to maintaining overall health and providing energy to the body.

Second, juices are predominantly composed of carbohydrates in the form of natural sugars. Although some fruits and vegetables contain beneficial fiber, much of it is removed during the preparation of these beverages.

Meanwhile, dietary fiber regulates blood sugar levels and is essential for maintaining proper digestion and preventing problems such as constipation.

Consequently, a detox program can cause energy crashes and gastrointestinal problems, as well as promote insulin (hormone) resistance over time.

In addition, a juice diet lacks essential micronutrients such as vitamins, minerals and antioxidants found in whole foods. These nutrients are crucial for maintaining the immune system, ensuring healthy organ function, and preventing chronic disease.

Prolonged nutrient deficiencies can have detrimental effects on the overall health of the body. Plus, severe calorie restriction leads to feelings of fatigue, dizziness and weakness, making it difficult to perform daily activities or concentrate effectively.

Eat a balanced diet and include doctor-recommended foods that won’t cause allergic reactions or other health problems.
