Under the open sky: how to eat in Moscow, if you haven’t got a QR code yet?
The capital’s verandas are getting crowded. But there is a way out if you are not afraid to experiment.
The extreme heat has subsided and pleasant weather has arrived in Moscow. You want to walk a lot, and afterwards to look in a beautiful place for a late lunch or dinner. But since June 28, only those who got a QR code, having had a coronavirus or after vaccination, can get to restaurants and cafes.
You can only get the code by getting the second component of the immunization. For those who can’t go to their favorite establishments yet, we’ve put together a few alternatives.
Have a picnic on the balcony
Perhaps the best way to spend time in good weather is to have a picnic. And if sitting in parks is no longer a surprise, try having an open-air lunch right on your balcony. Of course, you will have to do without a barbecue – for fire safety reasons. But in general, this option will be an unusual alternative to the classic picnic.
In the fresh air, any dish will be tastier several times. Call your friends, take a couple of board games and a speaker – you will have a good day (and maybe even evening).
Conquer the city’s rooftops
If you don’t feel like cooking yourself, you can order a dish from your favorite restaurant to go. You can usually do this on a mobile app or on the spot. The food is served in disposable dishes, so you can have a snack outside, also having a mini-picnic, or take it home. What if you travel to the stars? Well, almost.
Many people associate rooftop walks with St. Petersburg, but there are many picturesque places in the capital as well. Dinner by candlelight is good, but have you ever eaten under the open night sky?
Overcome your fear of station food
Put your doubts aside and finally order shawarma from the very stall at the train station! And with not the healthiest, but surely tasty roll on your head go to the nature, for example, in the near Moscow region. In the train just in time to enjoy such an atypical meal and can even take a nap before the walk. Better yet, take a trusty friend with you and embark on a zakadny adventure together.
Combine food for body and soul
An open-air movie theater, a loved one by your side and a couple of croissants with coffee – that’s the perfect summer date. Although the set can be easily changed to your liking: tea and mini sandwiches, cheese and a bottle of wine – whatever your heart desires.
But if you decide to bring alcohol, make sure it’s not prohibited by the theater’s rules.
Escape to the countryside
If you’re tired of the heat (or rain), crowded verandas and stuffy subways, go to the countryside. Have not just a picnic, but a full weekend in the fresh air. Invite your friends, bring a soccer ball from the depths of your pantry and a couple of badminton rackets – remember what summer in the countryside is like.
