Kelsey Lynn Bonas, at the age of 32, boasts 13 thousand followers on Instagram. At first glance, it seems that this is a typical example for the modern world, when a pretty girl gains popularity by posting beautiful photos on her blog and talking about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
In reality, however, the story of a Canadian woman is far from so simple. In 2018, Kelsey weighed 136 kg and was desperate because she didn’t know what to do with the huge excess weight. She had long had problems with calorie control, but after the birth of three children, the situation became really critical. The extra pounds directly threatened her health, and it became clear that if nothing was done, the consequences would be the saddest.
Burgers four times a day
Bonas didn’t just love burgers and other fast food. Of course, sometimes you want something unhealthy when you’re walking around the mall or eating stress with a basket of chocolate ice cream, but this was not the case. Our heroine ate fast food four times a day! The girl honestly admits that she couldn’t help herself. And very often, when just passing by one of the fast food restaurants, looked at the billboard and immediately went in for a cherished burger.
In the past, Kelsey didn’t see it as a big deal. She believed she could be beautiful and attractive at any weight, but she’d completely forgotten that eating that way led to serious health problems.
An accident on an airplane changed her life
The Canadian never thought about diets, never dreamed of losing weight. She just tried to live, raise her children and enjoy the moment. Everything changed during one of the flights, which began Kelsey’s unique transformation.
I couldn’t strap myself in on the airplane. You see, I just couldn’t buckle my seat belt. I had to ask for a special extension cord. Then I looked at my kids and I thought I was really embarrassing them.
Surgery and a strict diet led to a loss of 76 pounds in one year
By then, the health problems were already so massive that dieting was not an option. In early 2019, Kelsey went for a stomach reduction surgery, followed by a strict diet. In the first two weeks, she managed to lose 10 kg, and for the calendar year – 76! How did she do it?
Not by dieting alone. As she lost weight, the girl was gradually able to start exercising. And the less she weighed, the more active the training became. Plus, Bonas made a few more surgeries to remove excess skin.
The blogger admitted that she felt miserable and unlucky at the time. Kelsey was having such a hard time with so many surgeries that at times she felt like she was close to death.
It was all like a roller coaster ride. Losing weight doesn’t mean you can be happy right away. When you lose the first 10 pounds, you really do flutter in the sky, and then you start to realize that it’s just motivation to change your life and start doing something you’ve wanted to do for a long time.
“Sometimes I wanted a burger so bad!”
Now 32 years old, Kelsey looks like a Hollywood star or a popular singer. Those who want to change are taking an example from her. But the Canadian continues to insist that there is nothing wrong with body positivity. She went to such drastic measures to lose weight not because she was afraid to feel ugly, but solely because the extra weight could lead to irreversible health consequences and greatly affect the quality of life. And Bonas as a mom of three couldn’t afford it. By the way, together with Kelsey to do sports and watch the diet became her husband.
And yet the girl describes the past year as a huge test of strength. Kelsey cried a lot, more than once wanted to break down, go back to old habits and eat a burger. But she continued to fight for her health and slim figure.
I thought I was making a big mistake by giving up my old life. But then I began to realize that it was, on the contrary, the best decision of my life. Now I can run, dance and do things that I could not even imagine doing a year or a year and a half ago. It was definitely worth going to such trouble for that.
