The need for food is basic to human beings. But sometimes from a way to maintain the body’s energy balance, food turns into the meaning of life. I’ll talk about patterns of behavior and foods that cause food addiction.

What habits cause us to eat more?

Stress eating habit

Food addiction is usually formed in people who suffer from excessive anxiety. They worry about everything and anything, and only their favorite dessert or fast food calms them down.

This habit is laid in early childhood, when parents soothe a crying child with candy, without understanding the situation and not letting the baby to live through the negative emotion.

In adulthood, a person begins to behave in the same way, so any stress in him provokes overeating.

The tendency to encourage oneself with food

This habit is also formed, as a rule, in childhood. If parents rarely communicated with the child, there was no close connection between them, so they compensate for the lack of warmth with the help of “goodies”.

Another situation is also possible, when the family had a condition that the child receives sweets only as a praise. For example, for an A or for eating soup. Over time, the person himself begins to encourage himself with food for successes, because he does not know any other way to pamper himself.

Fear of saying no

This happens to those who have low self-esteem and cannot assert personal boundaries. Even if they do not want to eat, but friends insist on it, they tend to eat for company. Usually this habit develops into an eating disorder.

Constantly comparing oneself to others

When a person is in imbalance with their self, constantly drawing parallels with others, their only way to calm down is often food.

Food drowns out the restless brain and allows one to relax briefly. Over time, eating transforms into an addiction, and the person becomes overweight.

Eating while using a smartphone or watching television

One of the worst habits that leads to a lot of eating disorders. When a person consumes food under the rumbling sounds of the TV while browsing social media feeds, he or she does not notice how much he or she eats.

In addition, the habit of always chewing something while watching favorite TV programs is formed. Gradually, portions increase, and with it, extra pounds appear.

What kind of food is addictive?

Apart from trigger habits, there are also foods that are addictive. These include:

Instant porridge. They are full of addictive products, namely chocolate, sugar, flavor enhancers, other preservatives. All of them provoke feelings of hunger.

Cheese. Due to the bright flavor of this product provokes people to eat it again and again. And when you eat it, the body releases casomorphins, which are similar to drugs in their effect;

Fast food. Everything that is fast is harmful, and fast food is a direct proof of that. Fast food contains a huge amount of flavor enhancers, preservatives, quickly digestible carbohydrates, and flavorings that stimulate the taste buds.

In addition, despite the large calorie content, fast food is an energy “pacifier”. An hour after such a lunch, the feeling of hunger returns again.

Sodas. It contains a shocking dose of sugar, which causes the production of the pleasure hormone. Over time, the body forms resistance, and a person begins to consume the drink in large quantities, literally “getting hooked” on the product.

Diet sodas can be more dangerous to health than the usual? Let’s understand the material.

Ice cream. This treat is addictive because of the combination of milk fat and sugar in its composition. The body wants to stock up on this symbiosis, constantly demanding a new batch of ice cream.
