A sport for those who want to be strong and love freedom. Getting to know streetlifting

Streetlifting exists inextricably with the love of sport, with an irresistible desire to do it. After all, physical exercise is a passion. You do not need anything but a tourniquet and a pair of bars in the yard on the sports ground, you can spend at least half a day there. Today, together with an expert, we will examine in detail a sport that has only recently appeared, but has already gained serious popularity.

Maxim Ilgov

master of sports in hand-to-hand combat, powerlifter

“Recently, streetlifting has become a real hit among those who like to keep themselves in shape. It is not only a trend, but also an affordable way to make training interesting and effective while being in the yard or in the park.”

Getting to know a new sport

Just above we mentioned streetlifting, and for good reason. After all, what is streetlifting? It is classic pull-ups on the crossbar and push-ups on the bars, that’s all. The list of competitive disciplines includes only these two exercises, which each of you knows about. But don’t think that everything ends there, because streetlifting is about street sports, about training whenever and wherever you want, and therefore about freedom.

Streetlifting is all about basic exercises: pull-ups, push-ups, squats, and yes, even simple but powerful abs exercises are the foundation. But to spice things up, you can use weights or some sort of improvised exercise equipment. This will make the workout not only beneficial but also fun.

For the athlete, a breadth of choice opens up: he can do pull-ups, squats, push-ups. There is no need to go to the gym, just go outside. And this, you must agree, also has its charm.

The birth of streetlifting

This sport appeared in 2014 as an amateur branch of vorkout, and Russian athletes did not leave it without attention. In Russia, streetlifting is quite popular. There is even a streetlifting federation, and various tournaments are held under its aegis.

As we have already said, in competitions, participants perform only two exercises. But it can be done in different ways. There are two types of competitions: classic and multi repetition. In the first case, each exercise is performed in three approaches with breaks, and in the second – in one approach, that is, you need to do the maximum number of repetitions at a time.

But if you think that it is not difficult and any person who can do pull-ups can take part in such competitions, you are mistaken. Streetlifters put on weighted weights before performing the standards.

What is streetlifting useful?

Maxim Ilgov: “Streetlifting is a great opportunity for those who want to become stronger, more enduring, burn excess fat and just feel better in everyday life. These workouts help our body to work as a single mechanism, with their help you can simplify your life, it will be easier for you to carry heavy bags to the apartment”.

You don’t have to participate in competitions to call yourself a streetlifter. Everyone decides for himself, if you want sports to become a part of your life, then go to the sports field, make it your most useful habit and set yourself high goals.

Good streetlifting is safe streetlifting

Remember that since you are exercising on the street or at home, there may not be a person around to guide you. Therefore, try to assess your physical abilities wisely. Here, as in any other business, it takes time to achieve success. Do not rush to put a lot of weight on yourself, first refine the technique of performing exercises without weights.

And be sure to warm up, this sport, although street, but also requires careful preparation and warming up. You must prepare your muscles for the load to show your best result and not to get injured.

What do I need for streetlifting?

And now for the good: you can start streetlifting practically from scratch. You’ll need a tourniquet, bars, maybe a couple of gymnastic rings and, if you want to diversify your workout, a couple of weights. All of this can be found in a public park or set up in your home to work out when the weather outside isn’t cooperating. This makes streetlifting an ideal choice for those looking for effective and low-investment ways to stay in shape.

The most important thing is your desire. If you want to be strong and physically developed – then go ahead, to new sporting achievements. If you have a free half an hour between studies, work and household chores, you can spend it on exercises.

Maxim Ilgov: “Streetlifting is not just training on the street, it is a lifestyle. It’s a way to be active, healthy and strong without spending a lot of money and time. It’s about the freedom to choose when and where to train, and the freedom to be yourself. And most importantly, it’s available to anyone who is ready to get off the couch and take the first step to a better version of themselves.”
