Detox. I’ve been told, “You drink juice and you’ll lose weight.” What is it?

Sooner or later every girl (and not only girls) faces the question of emergency weight loss by a couple of kilograms. The reason may be an important event, a friend’s wedding, a birthday or the fateful “two days before summer”. Wanting to instantly transform and get into “that very dress”, the beautiful half of humanity is capable of much. Therefore, the Internet is full of various recipes, kefir diets and ways of interval fasting.

Considering that half of these diets were invented by trendy fitness gurus from Instagram, I did not risk trying these methods on myself. But I decided to seek advice and try a popular detox program developed by Margarita Koroleva, a leading nutritionist and candidate of medical sciences. Of course, to sit for three days on juices and smoothies without food and additional snacks that can be chewed, seemed to me a challenge with an asterisk. By the evening of the second day I got a little discouraged and even had time to think: what if it doesn’t work out, and I’m suffering here and not eating anything… But let’s talk about everything in order.

Introduction – how to properly prepare yourself and your body?

At first it’s important to get your goals right and understand what results you want to achieve, in addition it’s important to balance your daily regimen and drink your first detox drink immediately upon waking up.

But it is equally important not only how you will behave during the detox, but also how you prepare for it beforehand. Here are a few foods you should eliminate 1-2 days before you start the program:

  • Sugar. If you can’t keep away from sweets at all, use natural sweeteners such as honey, stevia, topinambour syrup, maple syrup.
  • Alkohol
  • Meat and processed meats
  • Cow’s milk products
  • Coffee.

Well, and, of course, it will not be superfluous to prepare mentally. Set yourself up for the fact that the detox itself is a small step towards a big and important goal for you, or a fascinating experiment on yourself, and maybe a great opportunity to cleanse the body of excess slags and toxins. Believe me, your attitude is extremely important. It will help you not to break down at the moment when a colleague at the next table starts to tuck into a fragrant croissant with a cup of latte.

Theory. How was I convinced that I would lose weight and at the expense of what?

One of the most important questions that plagued me along the way was: what will make me lose weight? This and several other questions were answered by the counseling specialist during the ordering process. I share the answers with you.

  • At the expense of what is cleansing? Fractional and frequent meals perfectly stimulates intestinal peristalsis, which improves all metabolic processes, including the removal of harmful substances from our body. In addition, increased peristalsis does not let the toxins that come with some harmful products linger. Deeper purification is carried out by active substances that are present in detox drinks.
  • How many pounds will I be able to lose? The figure of weight loss is always individual. It depends on the amount of initial body weight, the amount of excess fluid, the degree of activity and the number of muscle cells, hormonal features. As a rule, the average weight loss per week is within 4-6%.
  • What will help to enhance the effect of the detox program? Healthy sleep, the use of 1.5 to 2 liters of pure water per day, proper preparation and proper smooth exit from the cleansing diet.
  • How does the claimed cold-pressed juice differ from regular juice? Cold-pressed juices contain 80% more nutrients thanks to cold-pressing. Since the ingredients are not pulverized, but squeezed without contact with oxygen or heat.

After the main questions were voiced and the answers were answered, I began to prepare. The hardest part was eliminating coffee from my diet, but I’m sure this “hardest product” will be different for everyone.

Practice. 3 days without food

The hour of X has come, and here I finally got my magic suitcase of detox drinks. I immediately looked through the menu to make sure that not only sweet smoothies were part of the program. This moment was psychologically important for me, because the more diverse the palette of flavors, the less hunger I feel and the faster satiety comes. By the way, both smoothies and juices turned out to be very unusual, some of them were even more like soup in consistency, others were difficult to refer to “sweet” or “salty”, because it was something on the edge.

Next I will share the most important insights I got during these days.

  • Day One. As soon as the cherished suitcase is in your hands, you are filled with determination. You want to try everything at once. During the day, my fervor waned a couple of times because I didn’t have time to drink juice or smoothies at the right interval and had to fight the feeling of hunger.

Important: remember, if you drink all the bottles (they are signed) at the right time, the hunger will not catch up with you and the detoxification process will be more natural and pleasant.

  • Day Two (morning). The morning of this day started with another delivery of juices and smoothies at the time agreed with the courier in advance. I must say that already by the morning of the second day it was much easier to wake up than usual. I don’t know what exactly this was due to: waiting for the courier or the fact that the body slowly began to get rid of harmful and unnecessary things from inside.
  • The second day (evening). By the evening of the second day I almost snapped and ate a cookie. From the fatal mistake I was saved… the mirror. Before going to the kitchen, I went into the bathroom and looked at my face. My permanent rash-prone skin looked much healthier, and the small pimples had faded.
  • Day Three. One of the hardest parts of the detox is the finish line. After all, it’s so easy to snap at the very end and “wean” the hard-earned pounds. My advice: wake up and go straight to the scale. The progress that you get already by the second day of detox, will strongly motivate you not to stop and go further.

  • Green apple, which contains a large amount of pectin substances that, while in the intestines, perfectly pull out harmful toxins from the body.

In the beginning it was not easy, but the result was worth it. And this is not a rave review for the sake of a review. I, as the most unsystematic person in terms of nutrition, managed to at least partially discipline myself and learn to eat by the hour. Yes, it was juices and smoothies to begin with, but I’m sure I’ll be able to repeat the same trick with regular meals like lunch, which I don’t have time for all the time.

In the meantime, I won’t bore you and let you know that the scales showed minus 2.5 kg. So I am quite satisfied with the result. Of course, it is worth noting that it was not fat, but excess water, slags and toxins that have accumulated in the body. So if at the end of detox you return to a disorderly diet and systematic “binge” in fast food, do not be surprised that the result was short-lived.

I plan to open a new chapter in my relationship with food and cure myself of the now fashionable diagnosis of “eating disorder”. And the motivation and ease that I received after the total body cleanse will be a great foundation for changing my habits.
