How often do you wonder, standing in a store, which alcohol to choose? Probably not infrequently. It can be difficult to decide which one to choose. Drinking culture itself has many nuances and rules that are worth learning if you are a frequent drinker.

What are the main types of alcohol?

Eugene: Wineje classified as alcoholic beverages with a low alcohol content, fortified wines are also popular – port, sherry, Madeira and others. The overwhelming majority of beer and ciders are considered to be low-alcoholic drinks, and strong drinks – cognac, armagnac, brandy, grappa, whiskey, gin and many others.

As a teetotaler, I will say that alcohol is not the basis of the table. Of course, you should match alcohol with appetizers, make a complex meal and choose a set of alcohol for each course. No one forces you to buy one wine and serve the whole table with it.

It is necessary to choose alcohol for the aperitif – sparkling wine, let’s say. Then continue with a quiet wine: white, or maybe red. You can finish with strong or cocktails based on strong alcohol, maybe sauras. Or if the wine lover is sophisticated – some more interesting cocktails of vermouths, liqueurs, bitters, etc.

What kind of alcohol can be considered relatively “healthy”?

Eugene: There is no such thing as a relatively “healthy” alcohol, as it contains ethyl alcohol obtained by fermentation or distillation anyway. If you are still concerned about a healthy lifestyle, I recommend betting on natural wines. As a rule, they have a low strength of 8 to 12 degrees.

Ivan: It is strange to think of alcohol as “healthy”. But if we go into such terms, we are talking about alcohol with the lowest sugar content. The main thing in the question about the usefulness of alcohol is only its quantity. Naturally, the more you drink it, the worse you feel.

It is worth noting that the quality of alcohol and the amount of alcohol drunk are not always to blame for the hangover. It often happens that the cause is hidden in the general state of the blood and its oxygen saturation, in the atmospheric pressure around.
