Pros and cons of a monotonous diet

Monotonous diet – is it a benefit or harm to the body? Answers nutritionist.

Many have at least the slightest idea about proper nutrition. One of its main principles is the exclusion of harmful products from the diet. And it often turns out that when we start eating only healthy dishes, the daily menu willy-nilly becomes more stable and monotonous than it was before. Together with nutritionist and nutritionist Anna Berseneva, we understand what can happen to the body if you regularly eat the same thing.

In what cases is a stable diet useful?

There is such a simple but demonstrative technique as a food diary. If we write down everything we eat for a week, it is very likely that our diet is quite stable and we choose the same things, plus or minus.

In my personal and professional opinion, a limited set of foods for a certain period of time can only be beneficial. But under one important condition. These should be high-quality and healthy products: whole-grain cereals, legumes, proteins, vegetables, nuts and others.

How to avoid the obsessive feeling of monotony?

And how not to get bored while eating? The answer is simple: use spices. Especially now it is very relevant, because many of them have a strong antiviral effect. For example, ginger, black and white pepper, turmeric, curry, cloves help to strengthen the immune defense of the body, normalize metabolism and have an anti-inflammatory effect. In addition, spices can turn any simple dish into a work of culinary art.

Let’s not forget that the emotional component of nutrition is also important to a person. A monotonous menu day after day can undermine both physical and emotional health. Try to elementary use different colors in your dishes. And this is not only an aesthetic issue: the color of the product is determined by its biochemical composition. Accordingly, by creating a “multicolored” dish, we provide ourselves with a variety of vitamins and minerals.
