Babikov’s values: 10 rules of life of the Russian biathlete

In our selection, we have gathered a few thoughts and photos from Anton Babikov’s account in order to understand what helps this guy to remain so simple, light and cheerful and to overcome one sporting milestone after another despite failures.

● Rule No. 1: Don’t feel sorry for yourself at training camp
Training camp is not an excuse to relax. It is a great opportunity to polish your skills, which is why even marathon distances are used. Afterwards, you can take a well-deserved rest.

Rule No. 2: Health is the key to victory
Low air temperature is a usual phenomenon for a biathlete. The main thing in this case is not to get sick. A “nipple” is a device that warms the air inhaled by the athlete in case of a big “minus”. For a skier or biathlete it is a kind of protection against colds.

● Rule No. 3: If you rest, you should rest in a healthy way
For athletes, even rest is often like training. Anton chooses rock climbing.

● Rule #4: Feel harmony with nature
Snow-capped mountains, endless meadows and lush forests are only a small part of the “natural” component of Babikov’s Instagram. Learning to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of natural nature means learning to find harmony.

● Rule #5: Don’t forget about education
The book in Anton’s account is quite a popular phenomenon. He himself has repeatedly said in interviews that he was raised to be a reader as a child. Every time he leaves home for a competition, he makes sure to take a few books with him.

Rule No. 6: Love art
We have already talked about books and nature, but not about music. For example, Anton, in the company of his friends, went to a concert of Denis Matsuev, a famous Russian pianist. Obviously, art is not the last thing in Babikov’s life.

Rule No. 7: Do not forget your small motherland
Biathletes are very seldom at home – constant flights and daily training do not allow them to see their relatives. But if an opportunity arises, Anton does not hesitate and immediately goes to his native land.

Rule No. 8: The team is a second family
Biathletes spend most of their time with the team – at trainings, training camps and competitions. The atmosphere in the team directly affects the psychological state of the athlete, so it is important to maintain warm relations between coaches and biathletes. It is even more important to cheer for our team, even if it is on TV.

Rule No. 9: Keep it simple
Surviving a celebrity illness is a challenge for any famous athlete. Anton copes: to be with his family, lay tiles in the yard, revisit old photos – at such moments it doesn’t matter how many medals and races you have behind you.

● Rule #10: Follow your dreams
This is probably the most important rule in any person’s life. Words are superfluous here: just look at the happy faces of the Russian national team guys on the podium and the questions will surely disappear by themselves.
