How to properly make fresh juice at home?

We are thinking more and more often about proper nutrition, about the benefits of products, including juices. Packaged drinks are considered not the healthiest, but freshly squeezed ones seem to retain the most useful substances. To get the most out of juice, you need to know a few nuances.

What kind of juicer to choose

A very big role is played by the technique. How to choose a juicer? So that it was quality and reliable, not for one year, and even the benefits of fruits and vegetables preserved. What should you pay attention to?

  • The parts of the juicer should be chrome-plated, so that there is no oxidation from fruit acids.
  • Vitamin C is very sensitive to heat. Therefore, it is important to choose a juicer that is not heated above +40°C during operation, otherwise vitamin C will disappear.
  • The pulp is very useful due to dietary fiber. So don’t be afraid to choose a juicer that gives more than just pure filtered juice.
  • If you plan to use the juicer often and squeeze juice from hard fruits and vegetables (pears, apples, celery root, pumpkin), you should pay attention to the power – it should be at least 9 thousand revolutions per minute. Too powerful you do not need: in order not to overpay, choose options with a capacity of up to 12 thousand revolutions per minute
  • The strongest and most durable juicer is made of stainless steel.
  • Choose a variant with a speed regulator. Different fruits require different intensity of rotation. And the more foam you get, the worse the quality of the juice. Foam contains oxygen, and it oxidizes the juice. This means that the useful substances in it become less.

There are three types of juicers: auger, centrifugal, manual.

Screw is more suitable for almost complete preservation of useful substances in the juice, as the principle of its work is gentle. First, the fruits are crushed with the help of a shaft, and then pressed, dividing into juice and cake. Such a juicer can squeeze juice even from grass (parsley, dill, basil).

Centrifugal. In such a fruit is crushed on a grater, and then under the action of centrifugal force is divided into two substances. At the output is obtained juice with a certain amount of foam, which means that there is a process of oxidation – vitamins and trace elements are lost. In such juicers, the juice is also heated, which is also not very good.

Manual or mechanical. The principle of operation as a meat grinder. Such juicers are not heated, so the juice is more useful. It preserves the most valuable pulp.

How to make juice without a juicer

Instead of a juicer, you can use a meat grinder or blender. They are great for juicy fruits and vegetables: oranges, lemons, juicy apples and pears, berries, some vegetables like tomatoes and beets. The juice obtained as a result of grinding should be immediately poured into a container, and the resulting cake should be compressed in gauze, decanting the juice by hand.

Another option is to juice through a grater. If you want to get juice without pulp, cover a bowl with gauze and place the grater on it. Grate the ripest and juiciest fruits (apple, pear, carrot). Then scrape the cake from the grater into the gauze, twist the edges and squeeze the juice through it.

What fruits and vegetables make the most useful juice

  • Beet juice with black currants.
  • A mixture of berries (cranberries, cranberries, blueberries, currants, sea buckthorn, gooseberries), fresh mint, rosemary, sweetener to taste.
  • Juice from pineapple (two cups), carrots (two pieces), celery (two stalks) and grated ginger.
