How to store your bike if you don’t have room at home. We’ve found 6 ways

Even with the desire and ability to ride a bicycle, people face a problem – there is a catastrophic lack of space at home and it is simply impossible to store the vehicle in the apartment. But if you want, you can solve any problem.

In the closet

This method of storage is experimental and not the most convenient. But if your love for the saddle and pedals overpowers, you can try it.

With proper organization of space in the closet can allocate a little space and under the bike. We take off the wheels, turn the handlebars 90 degrees, twist the pedals and only in this way put everything in the closet. Comments like “the author has gone mad” are not welcome. The method is experimental, we remind you. In this case, the bike must also be clean.

At the neighbor’s

This is one of the difficult ways. To begin with, if you have not already done so, you will have to get acquainted with your neighbors and build friendly relations with them. You know, share salt, let them make noise after midnight, don’t be offended that they stomped in the hallway and shelter their St. Bernard while they bask in the Maldives. After that, you can gently ask your neighbors about the presence of a balcony or free space in the pantry.

Lifehack for those in a romantic relationship – you can give the bike to your other half.

In the car

The way is quite common. If you really have a lack of free space in your apartment, and in the yard there is a car – the bike can be stored there. Fold out the back seat and put your “iron horse” there. There you can store everything else that comes with the bike: pumps, spare wheels, rubber bands, cables.

The convenience is that you don’t have to take the bike down the elevator or stairs. The downside is that interior paneling can cost more than your bike. So take care to cover the seats with something to lay your transportation on.

In a shared hallway on the floor, in the entryway, or on the street

We agree. It couldn’t be simpler, but it has its place. If there is a concierge in the entrance, the territory of the house is surrounded by a fence or your floor is closed by a separate door, try to organize parking there. Chances are there are other tenants in the building who enjoy biking, so you can team up with them and store bikes together in the entryway. Don’t forget to ask your neighbors beforehand if they’ll be able to use the hallway.

Outdoor storage is a last resort. It’s best not to resort to it, but it is possible. Don’t forget to buy a good lock so that no one steals your bike.

In a rented safe deposit box

In recent years, more and more popular among residents of metropolitan areas are boxes for storing things that can be rented. Usually everything that does not fit in the apartment is stored there. Alas, this option has more cons than pros in terms of bike storage – it’s not cheap, it’s inconvenient because of logistics and most lockers don’t have 24/7 access. But it’s up to you.
