Stars with a non-ideal figure. They are proud of their bodies despite other people’s prejudices

In your 20s, you’re skinny, in your 30s, you’re fat. Some girls are familiar with it, including famous ones. But not everyone tortures themselves with diets, trying to keep the figure of ten years ago. Many, on the contrary, accept themselves as they are and prove by example that attractiveness does not depend on weight. We tell you about the showbiz stars who achieved success with a figure that does not fit into the model standards of beauty, and sincerely loved their bodies.

Tyra Banks

Tyra began her modeling career at the age of 15, and in two years she was already shining on the catwalk. In 1997, she was recognized as a supermodel of the year according to the version of the TV channel VH1. In those years, the girl looked like this:

And even then, at the peak of her career, some fashion houses refused to work with Tyra because her figure did not meet the standards. Fashion designers advised the girl to lose weight. She was supported by her mom, saying: “Write a list of designers who like your shape. Your butt is growing and there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m not going to let my daughter diet for her career.”

Banks continued to film and was successful, even after gaining weight to 75 pounds. In 2007, the press published photos of a visibly recovered girl. Newspapers and magazines competed in sarcastic comments about the size of her thighs, which greatly angered Tyra.

On her own TV show, she gave an angry tirade that all the disgruntled people could kiss her on that very bloated place. The speech turned the model into an idol for thousands of women who are worried about being overweight. “It’s hard to feel comfortable in today’s world because so many people continue to measure beauty by fictional standards. Do not put these limits for yourself. Get rid of complexes. Every time you approach the mirror, find your individual beauty,” Woman Journal quotes Banks.

Tyra is already 46 years old, she continues to shoot and promote her vision of beauty, which does not depend on the size.

Rihanna

In 2005, when the young Rihanna only began her ascent to the musical Olympus, she already had seductive forms, but was quite thin. Albums of the artist became platinum, she received prestigious “Grammys”. But then the singer slowly began to gain weight. As it turned out, Rihanna does not give it any importance. “You have to accept your body the way it is. You may not be completely happy with it, but you have to feel comfortable in it. Once you learn to love yourself, you don’t want to be someone else,” says the singer.

Rihanna calls her shape “wandering”: she can get fat or lose weight, but she feels good at any weight and is not going to give up revealing outfits. Fans love the artist of any kind, and now she has also become an example for girls who want to be more confident in themselves.

Beyoncé

In the era of the group Destiny’s Child, the singer impressed with a thin waist and lush hips, but then she began to gain weight. Even shedding weight later, Beyoncé worried about the volume of pumped thighs. However, fans didn’t consider it a flaw.

After Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé not only built a successful solo career, but also got married, had three children and came into harmony with a body that still drives men crazy.

“If someone had told me 15 years ago that my body would undergo so many changes and that I would start to feel feminine and confident even in a lush body, I wouldn’t have believed it. But as I’ve gotten older and with my kids, I’ve learned to value myself over appearances. Real freedom is when you don’t care what you look like or who thinks about it. You can’t see real beauty with your eyes. I wish more people would start discovering their own beauty instead of criticizing other people’s thighs,” the singer admitted in an interview with Elle magazine.

Ashley Graham

Unlike the previous heroines, Ashley was pudgy from childhood and worried about the constant jokes from classmates. But already at school she was offered a job in a modeling agency, and soon Graham moved to New York. However, she was still an insecure young girl and at some point she could not stand the negative comments about her figure and wanted to quit everything. It was only thanks to her mother that Ashley decided to go further towards her dream.

Now the girl firmly meets any criticism and is the most sought-after plus size model in the world. She is confident in herself and does not pay attention to the opinions of other people. Her credo is to love herself and think positively. Now Graham sees her mission in inspiring other women and bringing body positivity to the masses.

Demi Lovato

The popular singer, who began her career at an early age, at 16 was already an idol of American teenagers. But with fame came problems: Lovato began to drink alcohol, got hooked on drugs, suffered from bulimia and anorexia. All this was layered on the malfunctions of the psyche. Demi was diagnosed with manic-depressive psychosis. In 2011, the artist underwent treatment and began to talk openly about her problems, but in 2018 she again snapped and ended up in intensive care after a drug overdose.

One of Demi’s challenges in treating mental health issues is learning not to be ashamed of her own body. The girl moved past her fears and showed herself unadorned. “My biggest fear is an unedited swimsuit photo. And you know what, yes, it’s cellulite. I was so tired of body shaming and editing photos to show others that I was their idea of beauty. But that wasn’t me, and this is me. I’m starting a new chapter in my life and I want to be me without trying to fit into other people’s standards. Now I am not ashamed, but proud of my body,” Lovato wrote. She joined the ranks of bodypositive supporters and seems to have finally become happy.
