To the mountains in luxury: Gucci presents a collaboration with The North Face

The collection will appear in Russia soon after the New Year.

One of the largest luxury brands Gucci presented a joint collection with The North Face, who specialize in creating functional things for outdoor activities. Gucci is not the first fashion house to decide on a sports collaboration. Recently, Dior released a ski outfit and Louis Vuitton released a clothing line in collaboration with the NBA. What’s in the collection and when will Gucci x The North Face be in boutiques?

Outdoor aesthetics and a hymn to the 70s

The brands announced the project in September 2020. Then a short teaser appeared in Gucci’s TikTok and Instagram accounts, which immediately caught everyone’s attention. After all, Gucci remains one of the top representatives of luxury, and The North Face is a story about functionality, practicality and convenience. The collection was presented three months later on the eve of the New Year. And, by the looks of it, the expectations of those who follow trends were justified.

The first drop included blown vests, down jackets, coats, raincoats, quilted jackets, bombers and fleece hoodies. The emphasis of the entire line is, of course, on outerwear. The design is inspired by The North Face’s archival silhouettes from the 1970s, and the color palette also references that era.

The collaboration also includes a range of T-shirts, shirts and sweatshirts, all featuring the Gucci x The North Face logo.

Functionality and sustainability

TNF pays special attention to the functionality of clothing and accessories. Thus, together with Gucci, the brand presented boots for high-altitude tourism with a durable and stable Goodyear sole. The model will be available in three colors: brown, black and cream.

Bright backpacks are created especially for hiking: many pockets for useful small things, rope fasteners, spacious compartment. Two models are presented in large and extra large size and in eight different colors. In addition, a voluminous belt bag will also go on sale, it is also available in several colors.

Gucci has not forgotten about sustainability. Backpacks and bags are made of special eco-nylon – it is obtained after processing old fishing nets and carpets. And outerwear is made of archival TNF fabrics.

When and where will the collection appear?

First the collaboration will be launched in China: on December 29th sales will start in the Gucci Pin pop-up in Beijing. On the official Gucci website things will appear a little later.

In Russia, the Gucci x The North Face collection will be available in the Italian boutique in TSUM from January 11 to 31, and from February 1 – in all stores of the brand.
