What to do not to eat too much at a holiday dinner? How not to overeat on New Year’s Eve?

In just a few days we will celebrate the New Year: someone at home with his family, someone with friends in a restaurant, and someone with his soul mate on the ocean. But all will be united by one thing – the New Year’s table, an abundance of delicious dishes and drinks. How to avoid overeating on New Year’s Eve, at what point to stop and how to prepare for the “holiday of the belly”?

Take care of the holiday menu in advance

  • Prepare mainly salads dressed with vegetable oil or salad dressing (lemon juice, grape vinegar, mustard, etc.). Put lots of spicy greens (cilantro, dill, green onions, parsley, etc.) on the table.
  • Instead of sandwiches, make a plate with cheese platters, seafood, deli meats (boiled tongue, baked meat, chicken roll, etc.), canapés (look for recipes without bread, such as mozzarella/tomato/basil).
  • Do not place a plate of sliced bread on the table. If you don’t remind them of it, guests more often than not won’t ask for it. Why eat bread when there are so many delicious things on the table.
  • As a main course any kinds of meat, poultry, fish and seafood.
  • Garnish with vegetables or legumes (e.g. grilled vegetables, baked cauliflower, lobio, etc.).
  • Instead of unhealthy sweets, make a dessert of fruit with nuts, chocolate, fruit salad, etc.

After 2-3 toasts, you should take a break (dancing, quizzing, taking a walk, clearing the table or any other movement),

  • Then you can proceed to the hot meal. You don’t need to limit yourself here.
  • Only after that, try a salad dressed with mayonnaise if you feel like it.
  • Do not forget about activity – do not sit at the table without movement.

How much can you “fast”?

Even if you stick to the right diet, you can “fast” all night – just listen to your body. Put it on your cheatmil count.

What about alcohol?

You don’t have to give up alcohol completely. But it is better to choose not strong alcoholic drinks, but wine. The use of strong alcohol inevitably makes you forget about the promises you made to yourself – in this case, it becomes much easier to overeat.
