An economical table does not mean a bad one.
Elena: Buy food in advance or order home delivery. There are many services that save you time going to the store. You can also use gift coupons or bonuses that often appear for the holidays. If you want to store in person, visit the store not at the last minute when the holiday is upon us, but a few days before so you don’t get caught up in the New Year’s rush.
Buy products with a long shelf life. To make it easier on yourself, opt for long-lasting products. For example, vacuum-packed meat and cheese, canned goods, pickles, pickles, herring, butter – in general, anything that does not spoil for a long time and can be stored in the refrigerator or on the balcony.
Elena: Ask your guests to bring something with them. There is nothing wrong if you ask them to cook something at home and bring it with them to the festive table. It can be salads, appetizers, as well as alcohol or cake for tea.
Decorate the table beautifully. The table may be budget-friendly, but the details will speak volumes. Take time to decorate both the table itself and the food. For example, salads can be decorated with olives, grapes, orange slices, peas. Show your imagination.
What dishes should be prepared to spend no more than 1500 rubles?
Elena: Traditional New Year’s dishes do not really require a lot of money. For example, everyone’s favorite olivier for a small company will cost 300-350 rubles, and herring under a fur coat – 350-400. To make them more dietary, mayonnaise can be replaced with sour cream, and sausage – with chicken. It will not come out much more expensive. Budget and healthy options can also be various appetizers in the form of pita rolls – they can be made with fish, sausage, cheese and everything that your imagination will offer you. Fish can be replaced with canned saira or mackerel, and then the dish will cost even cheaper. Crush it with a fork, add eggs and a little mayonnaise, vegetables and herbs, spread it on a pita – and your budget dish for 250 rubles is ready.
Pay attention to Asian dishes: asparagus, shiitake mushrooms, sea cabbage, Korean carrots. They are inexpensive, and for 400-500 rubles you will provide your table with delicious oriental appetizers.
If we talk about hot dishes, then the most budgetary and again useful option will be poultry. With proper marinating and baking, you will get a delicious New Year’s chicken or chicken, which you will please your guests. The cost of this dish will average 300-350 rubles.
