The 5 types of happiness you can experience in life. A list from a psychologist

“We call happiness an emotional state in which we experience joy and a sense of inner fulfillment. However, this feeling is not one-dimensional, as is commonly believed. Happiness can have several types, which we will now consider in detail. You may be experiencing it right now, but you may not realize it.”

1. Pride

Many people are used to viewing pride from a negative angle, guided by the Christian teaching of the seven deadly sins. In fact, when we feel a sense of satisfaction in the work we have done or in the process of producing other results, there is nothing wrong with that feeling.

You may create a promising project for a firm, buy your own home with your hard earned money, lose weight in the shortest possible time, or stop smoking. Any of the above experiences can fill us with a sense of pride for our successes and give us happiness.

2. Harmonious relationships with others

One of the important aspects that lead to a particularly joyful feeling is proper interaction with the people around us. It turns out that harmonious relationships with others can be enough to experience this type of happiness.

If you can boast good and strong ties with your family, friends, colleagues and society as a whole, you will experience a certain sense of joy, and also – less sick and live longer. It turns out that happiness is to exist in society, attracting people to you.

3. Satisfaction with life

Happiness lies in the ability to be happy with what we have at the moment. Many people find it difficult to come to such a wise discovery, because modern life imposes on us a real race for goals: a more expensive car, a cool smartphone, comfortable conditions and so on. As soon as one end point is reached, five new ones arise.

True happiness lies in the ability to slow down and catch yourself feeling grateful for what you have now. Inner calm and a sense of positivity leads to experiencing joy, peace and fulfillment.

4. Fun

Fun can be different and arises from a variety of circumstances: when we fool around with loved ones, engage in a favorite hobby, relax in the company of relatives. Such moments cause joy, allow us to rest our souls, reduce stress levels and make us more resilient to life’s challenges.

Fun brings a great revitalization to the usual pace and allows us to distract ourselves from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

5. Gratitude

Gratitude is inextricably linked to the concept of happiness. When we say thank you to life for the people with whom fate has brought us together, for the loved ones who make up a warm family circle, our heart overflows with tender and cozy feelings.

Such emotions can be difficult to convey in words, but they make us better. Hence the well-known conclusion that happiness cannot be bought for money, while gratitude gives everyone a feeling of joy, airiness and lightness. This understanding turns us into optimists.
