How Adelina Sotnikova lost 12 kg in 4 months

The experience of the figure skater had a negative impact on her health.

Russian figure skater Adelina Sotnikova forever entered the history of our sport by winning Olympic gold for the country in women’s figure skating for the first time. Now many people wonder how Eteri Tutberidze’s pupils win medals at adult competitions at such a young age – 14, 15 years old. Sotnikova, on the other hand, took first place on the podium of the Russian adult championships when she was 12 years old.

After winning the Russian Junior Championships a year later, Adelina was invited to a meeting with Vladimir Putin and told him that she would win the Olympics. Five years later, the figure skater fulfilled her promise. Officially, Sotnikova ended her career just a month ago, after which she admitted to her fans that she had serious problems with being overweight and shared surprising and even shocking details.

“There are some people who look good with fullness.”

Like any modern girl Adelina is active on social media. In the course of communication, one of the subscribers asked the figure skater what the maximum weight she had to drop during her career. The answer was quite unexpected.

I lost 12 kg. There are people to whom fullness suits, and there is me, to whom it does not suit at all. So far, I’m hanging in there. I’ve only lost four months.

“It’s bad for your health.”

Of course, everyone was interested in the question of how you can lose so much in such a short period of time. Adelina explained everything, while making it clear that it may not suit any body and with such a weight loss should be very careful.

At first I went on a diet, the weight went down very badly, and then the winter fairy tales began, nerves, almost did not eat, and sometimes even in general for the whole day only liquid was in my body. During the performances I lost so much weight. In fact, you can’t lose weight like that… it’s very bad for your health.

“I eat once a day.”

A year earlier, Sotnikova also admitted that she had to lose a lot of weight to be in good shape for the ice shows of another Olympic champion, Evgeny Plushenko. Adelina did a lot of boxing and tennis and often skipped meals.

I don’t have a special diet of my own. I eat when I want to, which is most often once a day, maximum two. Sometimes I don’t feel like eating at all, then I can only drink water all day.

“It doesn’t give me any strength at all.”

Such efforts are hard. The figure skater spent a long time recovering from a series of injuries, which caused her to move little and gain weight. The grueling training and diets did not go without a trace. Adelina recalls what happened to her a year ago.

It was a hard 2.5 months. But I can say that I am happy with myself! I am most happy that I am starting to get back into my former shape! I have lost almost 10 pounds in that time! It almost makes me feel exhausted, as the last time I was at this weight was about 5 years ago. As of today, my weight is less than it was when I was sporting. The most difficult thing will be ahead is to keep it.

Fans are very concerned about such metamorphosis with the weight of the athlete and advise her to be more careful, because they love her in any form.
