To make tea or coffee, we often use water that has been boiled more than once. In fact, this is a gross mistake that can carry health risks.

More often than not, we use purified water bought or drawn from the tap. Boiling means heating water to 100 degrees Celsius, which allows you to destroy most of the harmful microorganisms in the water. But exposure of water to this temperature provokes a number of other processes:

  • the concentration of salts and various impurities increases;
  • scaling, which is formed by hydrogen isotopes;
  • oxygen molecules evaporate;
  • water loses its useful properties, it becomes “dead”;
  • due to the presence of chlorine in the water, carcinogens are formed during boiling, which can provoke the development of cancer.

Here it is important not to confuse boiling and reheating water. In almost all modern electric kettles, water is not boiled again, but only comes to a boil and is heated to 90-95 degrees Celsius.

So how to boil water properly?

By following simple rules, you can avoid the harmful effects of boiling water:

  • before pouring water into the kettle, it is desirable to pre-defense it, then all impurities (sand, clay, etc.) will precipitate;
  • after boiling it is necessary to completely drain the remaining water, and for the next boiling fill the kettle again with clean water;
  • do not add new water to the already boiled liquid.
