Suits or “sportswear”: what should a soccer coach wear?

This week, Zenit head coach Sergei Semak and new Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri unknowingly argued in absentia about the coaching dress code. Sarri shared that he does not like to wear a business suit. Semak, on the other hand, was in favor of elegance, criticizing players and coaches who prefer sportswear even off the field. In our selection we have gathered 10 coaches who confirm that a business suit is cool.

Diego Paolo Simeone

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone always draws stares at the edge of the pitch. Complete with great style comes insane charisma, making Simeone one of the most colorful coaches of our time. The main draw is the total black kit.

Paul Tisdale

Tisdale is not a coach of the first magnitude, but invariably gets into such selections. The coach looks so bright that, even working in the lower English divisions (Exeter City, Milton Keynes Dons), is famous far beyond the Foggy Albion. “When I see the opposing coach in a sportive, it’s already 1:0,” Tisdale once remarked, emphasizing how important style is to him.

Roberto Mancini

This ranking couldn’t do without the Italians. Coaches from the country where fashion is elevated to a cult, invariably dressed with a needle. Roberto Mancini, the head coach of the Italian national team and in the recent past of Zenit St. Petersburg, always looks impeccable in a suit. His favorite style element is the fan scarf of the club he leads.

Joachim Löw

Operators love to capture Löw during broadcasts. The German mentor is always stylishly dressed and has a funny facial expression. Löw is often penalized for the fact that, carried away by the game, he can stick his finger up his nose or hand in his pants, but this does not detract from the charm of the German. He is also great at rolling up the sleeves of his shirt.

Josep Guardiola

The Spaniard proved everything to everyone a long time ago. Guardiola is one of the most decorated coaches in modern soccer. Coaching European grandees, Guardiola is consistent in more than just soccer successes. Whether it’s Germany, Spain or England, he always picks the perfect “bow” for any climate.

Zinedine Zidane

World soccer legend Zinedine Zidane has changed his uniform for a suit and now conquers the hearts of fans as the coach of Real Madrid. In clothes Zidane prefers strict classics, as it should be the coach of the “Royal Club”.

By the way, today Zizou turned 47 years old.

Vincenzo Montella

Another Italian in the selection. The Fiorentina coach loves jackets with the club’s emblem and elegantly tied scarves. As an Italian should be, he is charismatic and expressive, which adds a spark to the austerity of the images.

Andre Villas-Boas

The Portuguese has never been a professional footballer, but in addition to soccer manages to be a racer. At the edge of the field Villas-Boas allowed himself to appear and in a sports jacket, but when he puts on a suit – it always looks like on the pages of a glossy magazine. Villas-Boas is now coaching in France, a country where fashionistas have a lot to offer.

Eusebio Di Francesco

The 49-year-old Italian looks considerably younger than his years. Style is to blame. Di Francesco is a true hipster. The disheveled styling, trendy eyeglass frames, fitted suits – all of this adds up to more than a dozen years for the coach who recently replaced Roma with Sampdoria.

Sergei Semak

Semak confirms his opinion about coaches in suits. After becoming Zenit’s coach, he has revealed himself to the public as a great connoisseur of fashion. We won’t be surprised if the coach’s exquisite three-piece suits have something to do with Zenit’s championship this year.

Off the list

Jurgen Klopp

Klopp is the ultimate tracksuit enthusiast among coaches. At the same time, the successful German coach is so charismatic and charming when he gives 200% to the game that one cannot say that the last Champions League triumphant looks bad.
