What happens if you do yoga every day?

Yoga is a whole world with its own language, its own movements and its own philosophy. Anyone can get in touch with it, all they need is a mat and some free time. But what results can immersion in the world of yoga lead to?

Vika Vlasova, the creator of the channel “Vika Naturally”, recorded a video about it. In it, the girl tells about her own experience of daily yoga for 30 days.

Here are the conclusions she drew:

  • Yoga classes are relaxing.
  • They increase the physical activity of the practitioner without heavy exertion.
  • Classes reduce stress (Vika explains it by the fact that, practicing, you concentrate on your body and feelings, not on problems).
  • Yoga increases self-confidence.
  • Yoga is simple.

However, Vika draws attention to the fact that the classes eventually get boring and the exercises begin to repeat themselves, which is boring for her personally. But this is a beginner’s view and feelings.

hatha yoga instructor

As one of India’s foremost teachers, B. K. S. Iyengar, used to say, “the hardest thing in yoga is to spread the mat.”

The body becomes more flexible

Due to the many postures aimed at stretching the muscles, the flexibility of the body improves. What’s good for you? Blood begins to circulate better through the body, pain caused by chronic muscle spasm goes away.

Joints start to feel better

For example, in hatha yoga, there are many asanas (poses) aimed at opening the hip joints. Due to a sedentary lifestyle, the mobility of these joints gradually decreases. By practicing yoga, we regain this mobility, improve joint function and blood circulation in the pelvic organs.

Stamina grows

Yes, yes, yoga is not only gentle stretching and relaxation, but also a large number of strength poses, such as the plank, arm balances and quite complex asanas in the standing position. In addition to increasing muscular strength, bone tissue is strengthened. This is especially important for women, because after menopause the risk of osteoporosis (decreased bone density) increases. So, by practicing yoga when we are young, we create a good foundation for the future.

External respiratory function improves

Almost every hatha yoga practice involves breathing exercises before practicing. And also during the practice it is common to use full yogic breathing or ujjayi breathing (“winner’s breath” – full breathing with a soft hissing sound). How is it beneficial? It significantly improves blood supply to all parts of the lungs (in everyday life we breathe rather superficially), improves local immunity.

Stress and nervous tension go away

Due to poses that activate the parasympathetic nervous system and relaxation techniques, nervous tension and chronic stress go away. The general condition becomes more stable, “emotional swings” disappear.

Gastrointestinal system works better

Almost all complexes use abdominal manipulation techniques. These techniques cause an active blood flow from the legs upwards to the torso, triggering and activating digestive processes, thus improving the work of the gastrointestinal tract.

Improves the condition of the back

This is especially true for those who spend most of the day in a sitting position at the computer. Having practiced daily for a month, you will definitely feel how much easier it became back.

And all these words are confirmed by Vika in her video. She says that her heartbeat has become calmer, her body has become stronger and more flexible, and even her skin has tightened.
