“A person cannot demonstrate a high level of ability to work all the time. When is this normal and when is it a sign of illness?”
Laziness or disease
Laziness is an energy-saving mechanism. In this state, a person most often feels the uselessness of his activities, experiences apathy, drowsiness, difficulty concentrating.
The main difference between “normal” laziness and pathological state is the duration of such inactivity. A period of up to one or two weeks can be called safe. But if the condition drags on, it is better to consult a specialist to find out the cause of the phenomenon.
What diseases can masquerade behind fatigue?
Sometimes the lack of strength for everyday activities can be a symptom of serious diseases. Many of them in the early stages are asymptomatic, but the processes triggered by pathological changes affect the overall condition of the body.
Asthenia
Asthenia is one of the possible diagnoses of the doctor with fatigue. This is a painful condition that is characterized by increased fatigue, unstable mood and sleep disorders. It rarely develops as an independent disorder, and is more likely to be a co-occurring disorder.
In winter, asthenia can be a complication of colds and viral diseases (e.g., covida), when all the body’s forces are thrown to fight pathogens.
Diabetes mellitus of the second type
Severe fatigue is also characteristic of diabetes of the second type. In this case, other accompanying symptoms are observed: thirst, shortness of breath, decreased activity.
Oncology
In oncology, it is chronic fatigue that helps to suspect the presence of a malignant process. Timely appeal to the doctor in this case can affect a more positive dynamics of treatment. However, do not be frightened and write off minor symptoms to cancer.
Suspicion of oncoprocess is possible only if there are pronounced accompanying symptoms, depending on the location of the tumor. For example, the accompanying sudden weight loss should be alarming.
Hypotension
In the presence of fatigue, hypotension – a drop in blood pressure – is also likely, which without treatment becomes chronic. Accompanying symptoms in this case will be lethargy, impaired thermoregulation, headache and nausea. The causes of the condition are both heredity and disorders in the cardiovascular and other systems.
Therefore, before you bury yourself in excessive laziness and lack of productivity, it is worth taking a closer look at the state of health.
What to do?
It is possible to improve your condition on your own. To do this, you need to increase the amount of time outdoors, add sports to your daily life and reduce stress levels.

If all these measures were ineffective, then you can not do without consulting a specialist. He will exclude the exacerbation of chronic diseases, help to restore the biological rhythm, eliminate problems with sleep. And also prescribe appropriate clinical picture of examinations that will help in the diagnosis and further treatment.
