Forbidden sauce: is mayonnaise so harmful?

Mayonnaise is the main product that nutritionists advise to give up when losing weight and following a proper diet. In fact, many people are used to hearing that it is harmful not only for the figure, but also for health in general. Why is this so? What is mayonnaise in general and can it be consumed on the PP? What is mayonnaise?

Mayonnaise is a dressing based on eggs, vegetable oil, mustard and lemon (or any other acid, such as vinegar). Ordinary ingredients, so what’s so harmful?

Mayonnaise is harmful only if we consider the usual store version: because of the various unhealthy additives and flavor enhancers included in its composition, it has such a bad reputation. For example, dyes, thickeners and preservatives are often added to store-bought sauce to make the product look marketable. All these components have a negative impact on the body.

In addition, mayonnaise has a very fatty composition and high energy value. Just imagine, just one tablespoon of this dressing contains about 200 kcal, and how many such spoons are needed for a salad?

Many people like to add mayonnaise when baking or frying dishes, which turns this sauce into a time bomb. When heat treatment, the components included in the composition, begin to release toxic substances that are extremely harmful to health.

How to replace mayonnaise?

Mayonnaise itself as a sauce is not harmful, if there are no chemical additives in it. And you can prepare it yourself. The best substitute for store dressing will be homemade. To make it is very simple.

You will need:

  • vegetable oil – 200 ml;
  • egg – 1 pc;
  • mustard – 1 tsp;
  • topinambour syrup (or any other sweetener);
  • natural apple cider vinegar;
  • salt.

Wash the egg with boiling water to get rid of bacteria, since we will use it raw. In the bowl of a blender break the egg, add sugar, salt, mustard, beat until homogeneous. Then slowly pour in the oil in a thin stream, without stopping to whisk. The mass gradually thickens and turns white. At the end, add a few drops of vinegar (or lemon juice) and once again quickly whisk until homogeneous. Homemade mayonnaise from natural ingredients without coloring and preservatives is ready!

It turns out a great and tasty sauce, which can be used as a dressing for dishes. But it is still not worth heating it. Without artificial additives it will keep for 2-3 days, but you will be sure of its quality!
