Through fire and water: top 10 professions in the sports extreme industry

Extreme sports are spectacular but dangerous. They attract the eye, but few people dare to repeat the stunts of athletes. Although some daredevils choose such risky activities as their job. We tell you about the top 10 professions in extreme sports.

Tenth place: luge street sports

“Ten” opens the sport, which appeared in southern California among skateboarders. They once discovered that they could reach much higher speeds by lying on a board and traveling down steep slopes.

Now tobogganing is becoming increasingly popular among young people in Europe. If you want to try yourself in this sport, you should be prepared for a lot of injuries and even fractures. Sledding down a slope is quite risky. The speed can reach 96 km / h, and you have to brake with your own feet.

Ninth place: the bird man

People fly in dreams, but the bird-man – in reality. With the help of a bunny suit, the athlete has the ability to soar and control movements while jumping off a cliff. This suit allows the athlete to reach speeds of 225-240 km/h. The Romsdal Valley is considered a popular place for jumping. When the suit is filled with air, you can feel all the charms of free flight.

Eighth place: Running with the bulls

You can also get a dose of adrenaline in a bull run. Not everyone is able to run ahead of an enraged animal weighing up to a ton. Despite the warm weather, in July, a crowd of people come to Pamplona, a town in Spain, to take part in an extreme race with bulls, which are then used in bullfighting.

Anyone over the age of 18 can take part and run a distance of 840 meters in a crowd of adrenaline junkies. Unfortunately, to date, more than 10 people have died from this sport.

Seventh place: slacklining

It is for this sport that you need strong, but not tight ropes. They allow you to move more easily and even perform dangerous stunts.

The record for the highest height in slacklining belongs to Christian Shue. He walked on a tightrope over a gorge, the height of which is 1 km, which is equal to the height of three Eiffel Towers.

Sixth place: speedriding

Paragliding and skiing – this is the mix that makes up speedriding. This sport uses a special kind of parachute and skis to gain speed while going down a slope. Because it is a very extreme sport, some ski slopes have already banned downhill skiing with these devices.

Fifth place: basejumping

For those extreme athletes who are no longer interested in ordinary skydiving, but want new sensations, there is basejumping. It differs from the usual parachuting sport by the fact that basejumpers jump from static objects, as in paragliding. There are four types of objects for basejumping: buildings, antennas, bridge spans and cliffs.

The danger of this sport is that the time to open the parachute is very short, so athletes pull the ring at the very beginning of the jump, otherwise it can end very badly.

Fourth place: driving through the dunes in jeeps

With a four-wheel drive vehicle, you can traverse steep and high sand dunes that are almost impossible to traverse on foot. At the same time, you get the exhilarating feeling of falling – that is the indescribable feeling of extreme desert jeep tours.

This type of extreme sports is most popular in the UAE, which is not surprising, because the local conditions are suitable in the best possible way.

If you decide to take such a trip, don’t forget to bring a video camera: you will have something to show your friends, otherwise they won’t take your word for it!

Third place: human catapult Airkick

Another dangerous sport – “human catapult”. The name itself explains quite clearly what it’s all about. A special throwing device throws the extreme athlete upwards along a pre-calculated trajectory. For this purpose, air pressure and water back technology are used. The athlete must press a button to rise eight meters into the air, and then flies at high speed into the pool. But even in the water you have to land in a certain way, otherwise you can get seriously injured.

Second place: Trainsurfing.

This activity is considered illegal. But the speech in this article is not about the laws, but about the absolute extreme. The essence of the sport is that people ride on the roof or footboard of a moving train. Now in many countries there are extensive campaigns against such “entertainment”. Its main danger is that “passengers” can be thrown off the train at full speed or maimed while traveling when entering a tunnel or touching an overhead catenary line.

First place: volcano boarding

The leader among extreme sports is volcano boarding. The only place in the world where you can ride down the slope of an active volcano is Nicaragua, Leon department. This is where the active volcano Cerro Negro is located. Every daredevil can ride down the 725-meter-high slope on a special board made of wood. It accelerates up to 80 km/h.

The volcano is still active and its last eruption was just over 10 years ago. Now that’s a truly powerful adrenaline boost! It takes 45 minutes to climb to the top of Cerro Negro. And you want to go down not so much with the wind, but in one piece, because the slope of the mountain is really steep – 41 degrees.
