Checklist: packing for a picnic

While there are epidemiological restrictions in cafes and restaurants, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations is not warning about abnormal heat, we suggest going out for a picnic. Sun, picturesque nature, delicious food and refreshing drinks – what can be better? Only a picnic, where everyone will be comfortable and fun, and afterwards there will be no extra garbage and heaviness in the stomach. We tell you how to organize it.

Choosing products for a picnic, remember: do not drink meat with water and eat it with sweet products.

Choose the day

Look at the weather forecast and identify a sunny day without precipitation, cold or heat. If it coincides with your day off, you’ve hit the jackpot. The opportunity to picnic with friends on a weekday will also be a good thing. This way you can easily park your car, choose a place for lunch and enjoy nature without strangers and music from someone else’s speaker. Send the date to your friends. Is everyone in agreement? Then start making preparations.

Find a place

The ideal glade for a picnic is far from the road and industrial enterprises, in the shade of trees and on a flat surface: without holes, ant hills and wasp nests. A clean body of water nearby will not only add to the scenic beauty of your vacation, but will also allow you to refresh yourself so you don’t catch a heat stroke. In addition, it is important to consider whether there is a nearby place to shelter in case of bad weather and thunderstorms.

Pack

For seating. In case of an outing, folding chairs and a table are ideal. But if you don’t have them, don’t rush to cancel the picnic. Grab a thick blanket, a plaid or a tourist mat.

For cooking. A barbecue, grill or, if it’s not prohibited at the picnic site, a campfire and grill will help make dinner. Choose what you find at home, and don’t forget coals, kindling, lighter or matches.

Utensils and containers. Use a cooler bag and thermoses to keep food from spoiling on the road. If you support an eco-friendly lifestyle, don’t forget reusable plates, glasses, cutlery and drink tubes. And most importantly, take a knife and cutting board.

What does environmentalism have to do with it?
A healthy lifestyle, among other things, implies a healthy and proper attitude to the environment and care for nature.

Clothing. Even if it’s hot outside and you plan to rest in short clothes, put pants, a long-sleeved sweatshirt and closed shoes in your backpack in case of cold or insect attack. For swimming, don’t forget a swimsuit, flip flops and a change of underwear.

Accessories. If there is a chance of light rain, bring an umbrella or sunshade. If the forecast is sunny, bring a hat and sunglasses.

First aid kit. You should always take it when you go to the countryside. The mandatory kit includes: medications for headaches and food poisoning, antipyretic and anti-allergenic drugs, green or alcohol, as well as bandages and plasters. To protect yourself from sunburn and bites from mosquitoes, ticks and horseflies, bring sunscreen and bug spray.

It won’t be superfluous. A few more things that will come in handy on a picnic: an external battery, flashlight, garbage bags, wet wipes and toilet paper.

Make a menu

Meat: The expert does not recommend buying ready-made sausages and marinated kebabs. Often behind a large amount of vinegar, spices and preservatives hide low-quality products. For a picnic, it is better to buy meat yourself and prepare it. If you marinate shashlik with vinegar at home in advance, the processing will begin earlier, and in nature the meat will be more easily digested.

Vegetables and herbs. In order that meat does not ferment in the gastrointestinal tract, it should be consumed together with fiber – greens and vegetables.

Sweets. Nutriciologist does not recommend mixing meat and vegetables with sweet products. This can provoke fermentation processes in the body. If you want to take fruits and berries, it is worth eating them before the main meal.

Drinks. It is better not to wash down food with drinks, especially with added sugar. It is more useful to drink water or herbal teas between meals.

Plan recreational activities

Sports games. If your company is not used to sitting still, you’re in luck. There are many options for physical activity in nature: badminton, Frisbee, water pistols, twister, and more.

Board games. You can take with you options with simple rules, suitable for companies and not taking up a lot of space in the backpack, for example, UNO, Dobble, Alias, Swintus.

Movie. Watch a movie with friends in the fresh air – why not organize your own eco-cinema? Bring along a laptop and a mini projector.

Guitar. If there is a person who plays the guitar, you can brighten up the warm evening with songs around the campfire.

To make sure you don’t forget anything, use the “Championship” checklist.
