How have soccer uniforms changed in 10 years? Anniversary of cooperation between Zenit and Nike

On March 9, FC Zenit players dressed in their last season’s home uniforms before the match against FC Ufa in honor of the tenth anniversary of the partnership with Nike. The spectators who attended the soccer meeting were able to directly touch history. How did the cooperation between Zenit and Nike begin?

In the season-2008/2009 FC Zenit played its last match in Puma uniform.

Undoubtedly, that year was unforgettable for the fans of the St. Petersburg team. Under Dick Advocaat’s leadership, the team won the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup, defeating Scottish club Rangers and Manchester United.

January 1, 2010 was the date on which a new story began. Bert Hille, General Manager of Category Football Russia, commented on the new partnership:

“We are proud to partner with FC Zenit, a team with a rich soccer heritage. “Zenit is one of the leaders of the Russian championship and also the winner of prestigious European club trophies – the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. Since the company became an official partner of the club, Zenit St. Petersburg has come a long way, winning a large number of trophies.

Four Russian Championship Cups, as well as two Russian Cups and a Russian Super Cup have appeared on the shelf of the club museum. In the company’s shirts the team beat Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, and Hulk scored from the center of the field “Sevilla”.

How did Zenit’s form change?

It’s been 10 years, 10 periods of history, 10 shirts – for the match against Ufa, every player in the main squad wore one of them.

In 2010 and 2014, the uniform was made in the classic style, with a collar. More interesting were the jerseys of 2011, 2018 and 2019. Then the company decided to add a little geometry to the shirts, such drawings perfectly highlighted Zenit players on the soccer field.

We would also like to note the year 2013.At this time, the team management made an important decision to change the round logo to an arrow.

“Zenit” tried to stand out not only with the outfit, but also with its presentation. In 2016, the team’s players Yuri Lodygin, Alexander Kokorin, Artyom Dzyuba, Yuri Zhirkov and Nicolas Lomberts presented the new uniform in the Arctic, on the oil-producing platform Prirazlomnaya in the Barents Sea. The players and assistant head coach Sergei Semak first flew by plane to Varandey, and from there by helicopter to Prirazlomnaya.
