Maria Sharapova, who retired from big sports, showed a video diary of her grueling workouts.

Russian Maria Sharapova announced the end of her tennis career in February. But unlike many athletes who have “retired”, she has not disappeared from sight for her fans and almost every day pleases them with stories about her life. Surprisingly, but it seems that retirement went Sharapova even for the good. Diets and increased training helped Maria to transform – fans of the Russian constantly note in the comments that she has gotten slimmer and prettier literally before their eyes.

After leaving tennis Maria Sharapova could not sit idle for long. At first, the Russian intensely engaged in expanding her business empire. Just at this moment, she topped the ranking of the highest-paid Russian athletes of the past decade according to Forbes. Her income for the years 2010-2019 was estimated at $197.8 million. Even when Sharapova was a current athlete, in 2012 she invested $500 thousand dollars in her brand of sweets Sugarpova. Now the turnover of this company is about 20 million dollars a year. And in March 2020, at the height of the coronavirus, Maria announced that she had invested in a startup for the production of weighted fitness bracelets. Later, another business venture for Sharapova was a partnership with Therabody, a company that makes massagers and other body care gadgets.

But the surprises from Sharapova did not end there. Most recently, Maria signed a contract with the training platform Skills. The tennis player will be one of the teachers of online lessons, during which she is going to give advice and recommendations to sports fans, as well as present her own training, including on the court and in the gym.

In addition to Sharapova, the teachers of this online platform include 23-time Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps, snowboarder Shaun White and NFL player Larry Fitzgerald.

It’s not hard to see that all of Sharapova’s recent business endeavors are directly related to the fitness and health and wellness industry. Being the face of several such startups and companies, Maria just needs to keep herself in great athletic shape. Maybe that’s why she tortures herself by making grueling hikes in the mountains and doing three workouts a day. For example, the fans were really shocked by the photo published by Sharapova, where the former world number one is shown hanging upside down on a special simulator for strengthening back muscles.

Sharapova also not only told, but also showed in her Instagram Stories how she practiced physical training at a country ranch. In fact, it turned out to be a video diary. Maria got up early in the morning, did a hard exercise, and then went to the mountains. Upon her return, the tennis player had two more workouts and a massage. By the end of the day, the Russian felt tired but satisfied.

Maria Sharapova, 33, described the week spent at the ranch as days of “self-love and self-loathing.” “I walked a lot. More than I’ve ever done before. I didn’t think I could handle that (about 45 miles in a week). I ate like a vegetarian, even drank hibiscus tea instead of coffee. Picked figs from the garden and ate them. I also got a daily massage. I took walks after strength training, even though it seemed unnecessary at the time. There was also yoga, stretching. In a word, this week can be called days of self-love and self-loathing, which we need very much from time to time”.
