What happens if you work on the week off?

Punishment will affect those who violate the quarantine without a good reason.

For three months now, the world has been fighting the spread of coronavirus infection. The United States is now at the top of the list of countries with the largest number of infected people, and the numbers continue to grow at an incredible rate. In Russia, the situation is only gaining momentum.

A few days ago, Vladimir Putin declared the period from March 28 to April 5 officially off. Now all restaurants, bars are closed, services requiring people’s face-to-face presence are suspended. On weekends, the exception are grocery stores, pharmacies, medical institutions, banks, public transportation and authorities of all levels – they continue to work in normal mode.

How do Russians adhere to the quarantine?

Despite the huge number of warnings – here and a mailing from Sergei Sobyanin with a reminder that the non-working week is a quarantine, and new stickers in “Instagram” with a request to stay at home – some residents of the capital ignored the request of the government. Some went for shashliks, others bought tickets to Sochi. The closure of all public places was not an obstacle either: people are walking in parks and courtyards, and playgrounds are full.

On the second day of the quarantine, the authorities had to urge residents to stay at home by loudspeaker. It seems that many Russians are in a world of their own, where the word “pandemic” is not even known.

In case of non-compliance with the quarantine, officials face a fine from 50 to 150 thousand rubles. For repeated violations will have to pay from 150 to 300 thousand rubles. For legal entities, more weighty figures are outlined: from Br200 to Br500 thousand for the first and from Br500 thousand to Br1 million for repeated violations. The alternative to fines is deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years. Imprisonment for up to three years is also likely.
