“The 12,000 cleats tore after 2.5 months.” How much does it cost to raise a soccer player’s son?

From the very childhood a person starts to show interest in different things. The task of a parent is to understand where the child should be directed, so that he can be realized. If your baby draws pictures on the wallpaper, it may be worth thinking about art school. If he sings along to all the songs, even without knowing the words, his vocation may be music. And if he breaks another vase by kicking a ball into it, then the choice is obvious – soccer.

We continue our text series about the cost of children’s sports. Today, the father of a young goalkeeper shares his experience.

Yuri Vorontsov

father of a young goalkeeper

My son himself wanted to do soccer, all the time played at home in the ball, did not even touch the machines practically. When Stefan broke another lamp in the apartment with a ball, we decided to take him to the soccer section. He was only four and a half years old at the time.

The game has grown from street and home soccer. For soccer lessons we need two sets of uniforms of different colors, training uniforms, windbreaker, thermal underwear, boots and shields. Since Stefan is a goalkeeper, in addition to the standard soccer kit, he regularly needs to buy goalkeeper gloves. Now let’s look at the costs in more detail.

Uniforms

Game uniforms were given free of charge, apparently it is included in the season ticket price. But everything else you need to buy yourself. A set of training uniforms, which includes pants, sweater, windbreaker and hat, with an order through our club cost 6000 rubles. The uniform can last quite a long time, even a couple of years, if not torn. Speaking of goalkeepers, they regularly fall and jump, so thermal pants often come into disrepair.

Cleats and gloves

With good cleats now everything is not easy, as the large sports chains in our country have closed and we have to buy in small stores and more expensive. We bought adidas boots for 12 thousand rubles, they broke after 2.5 months. Now we ordered them from China for 5 thousand, we have been waiting for them for a month.

In general, the average price of boots is 5-7 thousand rubles. But they are not enough for a long time, because either the child’s foot grows in a few months, or the spikes are worn down faster – in children’s boots they are plastic. On average, one pair lasts for three to six months. Goalkeeper gloves cost around Br5 thousand. But they are also short-lived, they last for three or four months at most. Since there are a lot of trainings and games per week, they wipe out quickly.

Training

We train at the FFC club. It is a commercial club with very good trainers. A season ticket in our club costs 12 thousand rubles a month, but there are commercial clubs, where prices go up to 30-40 thousand. My son additionally goes to goalkeeper training. One such training costs a thousand rubles, and it is desirable to go at least three times a week. Also two or three times a month it is necessary to attend additional classes in acrobatics. One lesson costs Br1.5 thousand for 1.5 hours.

Training camps and games

We have training camps twice a year: in winter – in Sochi, and in summer – usually in the Moscow region. They usually last 10 days and cost around Br50 thousand. There are away games quite often, once every two or three months. On average it costs 20-25 thousand rubles per child. We try to travel with him, so the sum is multiplied several times over.

In Moscow we have games almost every weekend, this is the Moscow championship, where this year the team took first place in 2010. Kimberly and MCL championship, where my son plays already in 11×11 format. One game in such tournaments usually costs 600-800 rubles.

To score a goal or save your team’s goal from the ball without support is very difficult. For a child, the support will be the parents. So do not forget that, in addition to finances, in the hobby of your son or daughter you need to put your soul. You are their biggest fan.
