What are we waiting for, snickerhead? Upcoming releases for the second half of the year

While the entire self-respecting snicker community is discussing the just-released Air Jordan 1 Low by Travis Scott and Fragment, we turned to the future and gathered five collaborations that are scheduled for release by the end of 2021.

A little bit about trends

Snickerhead culture has reached a whole new level in recent years. Collaborations between sports brands and popular artists and designers have become a daily agenda, but that doesn’t make them any less desirable to snickerheads. Today, neither Louis Vuitton and Dior nor M&M’s are shamed into integrating into the sports subculture.

So why are such alliances so popular? It is not so important how unique the design is or how much it costs, what matters is that few people have it. In 2021, we may see a model with a retail value of less than $100, but getting it into your closet will be far from easy.

The Simpsons x adidas McCarten “Ned Flanders”.

Release date: October 3

The Simpsons and adidas have already released vibrant pairs dedicated to Homer’s favorite beer and Krusty Burger, now it’s time for a sneaker that references the Simpson family’s neighbor, Ned Flanders.

Ned is Springfield’s most famous lefty, and this detail has become the model’s official tagline. “Left-Handers Rule” – the famous motto of the hero will greet you already on the box. The shoes are made in green-brown color scheme, repeating the main shades in Flanders’ closet. In pink, the designers highlighted the lining, which refers to the shirt collar under the hero’s green sweater.

Nike Vaporwaffle x sacai x Jean Paul Gaultier

Release date: September 2021

For Nike and sacai, the refresh of this model is not a debut – in January 2020, they already combined the running retro Nike Waffle Racer and the modern Nike Vapor Pegasus, presenting it at Paris Fashion Week. Maybe that’s what inspired French fashion house Jean Paul Gaultier – a joint version of the silhouette comes out in September.

The model retains the duplicated elements – sole, lacing and “swoosh”, but becomes taller than its predecessor and acquires recognizable massive seams running right in the center of the sneaker. All 3 brands got a place for their logo – the tongues and heels are complemented by dual Nike and sacai branding, and the insole features Jean Paul Gaultier lettering.

The world will get 2 colorways of the silhouette at once – classic black and white and mustard blue.

Vans x Kids of Immigrants

Release date: August 18, 2021

Kids of Immigrants (KOI) is a community organization founded in Los Angeles in 2016 and known for fighting for immigrant empowerment. This summer, the organization is partnering with street fashion brand Vans to release a model called Anything Is Possible. The slogan comes from the organization’s signature slogan.

KOI’s founders talk about the upcoming drop as a tribute to a generation that sacrificed to make the next generation successful.

The shoes are entirely in white and beige tones, but feature a riot of textures: paisley, corduroy, velvet, lambskin and patent leather, even the sole is adorned with small repeating inscriptions – the slogan Anything Is Possible and the coordinates of the place where the KOI organization was founded. All of these details symbolize the many stories and destinies that the silhouette’s creators address.

M&M’s x adidas Forum Low

Release date: 2021

This year adidas decided to take all the brightest drops: first the Lego collaboration that conquered everyone, now the exclusive Forum Low design from M&M’s. It is known that this model will be the first in a series of cooperation between adidas and Mars LLC – in the near future we are waiting for 5 more variations of the model in the colors of famous dragees.

The silhouette is covered in yellow-colored genuine leather with milk chocolate details on the tongue, lining and rubber sole. Complete each pair with a set of additional laces and details to customize your pair. Fans of chocolate dragees will also be pleased with the insole, which features a scattering of colorful candies.

New Balance 990v3 x Levi’s

Release date: 2021

The 990v3 isn’t unique in terms of the two American brands collaborating – we’ve already seen the joint 992e, 327e and 1300e. This time Levi’s and New Balance have opted for a traditional base of blue suede and classic denim. Diluting this “heavenly” riot are cream-colored details – laces, logo trim, insole and inner trim.

An exact release date for the Levi’s x New Balance 990v3 has yet to be announced, but will likely hit the market this fall or winter.

Salehe Bembury x Crocs Classic Clog

Release date: 2021

While some are just getting used to the funny rubber overshoes that have flooded the streets of cities, the snickerhead world has already welcomed Crocs into their family. Crocs announces design after design, and it’s getting harder and harder to get your hands on them. Now Crocs is going all grown up.

Recently, streetwear designer Salehi Bemburi, who has worked with Yeezy and Versace, showed off the result of his collaboration with Crocs on his Instagram, which will be available very soon. While most Crocs collaborations are just about changing the color of a classic model and adding details, Bemburi is turning the game upside down. The new model features a voluminous ribbed texture in white and is diluted with contrasting inserts – a black strap and translucent gray sock.

The silhouette itself echoes Bemburi’s signature distinctive fingerprint.
