There are a lot of sections for children’s development nowadays. Some are very unusual and interesting. For example, yachting. This sport is one of the oldest. It takes its origins from the middle of the XVI century, and the birthplace is considered to be the Netherlands. In our country it appeared under Peter the Great. It does not lose its relevance in the modern world.
In continuation of our text series about prices for children’s sports we will tell you about yachting. Today the father of a young captain from Moscow shared his experience with us.
father of a young yachtsman
My son Daniil is now 10 years old. He started sailing two years ago. I got a boat (skipper’s) license. Looking at me, the child also became interested in sailing and decided to try his hand at yachting. After the first training he fell down on the shore, but said it was cool.
Training and camp
Daniel sails on a Optimist class yacht. It is a dinghy for beginners from seven to 15 years old. He trains both in a group and individually, depending on the availability of free time. Five classes cost 22,500 rubles, it turns out 4500 for one. The price includes the rental of a boat.
In the summer, sports camps are organized in Moscow for a full day from Monday to Friday. Prices are quite different. There are programs from 40 to 90 thousand rubles. Several times a year we attend “Sailing Weeks” in Sochi or Gelendzhik. The cost is 35 thousand rubles for six days. This amount does not include airfare, accommodation and sports insurance.
Võistlused
The son participates in competitions to hone skills and learn from other yachtsmen. The cost depends on the level and type of competition. If it is a club race, there is no fee. Interclub tournament or regatta, organized by the federation, involves membership fees. Usually about a thousand rubles.
Seadmed
The price will depend on what the child wants to get from sailing. If it’s just “chill and buzz”, it is enough to have ordinary sports shorts, a T-shirt and a cap. They are inexpensive, there are options from 500 rubles.
To participate in serious competitions, you need “adult” equipment. What does it include? Wetsuit (dry and ordinary), UV long-sleeve T-shirt (from 4 thousand rubles) and even special “otkrenochnye shorts” (it is better to take for 5 thousand).
As with any clothing, the price range depends on the brand and type of outfit. You can start with simple manufacturers. In the past, a complete basic set was bought in “Decathlon” and “Sportmaster”. The whole set could cost 10-15 thousand rubles. The price is indicated for clothing for the summer season. There are also models from professional stores Helly Hansen, Gilly, Musto, Zhik. Here only a wetsuit will cost 20 thousand.
For cold weather you need two more windbreakers: waterproof and fleece. It is realistic to find a top set of clothes for 3 thousand, and 10-15 times more expensive. My son is engaged on the basis of the school “Wind Force”. If the classes are held in the home marina, there are waterproof pants, jackets and hydrotapki of all sizes. You can use them for free.
It is obligatory to buy goggles, preferably polarizing. On the open water, the sun is very blinding. Sailing gloves will be useful at competitions and in strong winds. Otherwise, the skin on your hands will be damaged on the scows (ropes, with the help of which control the sails). Price from 200 rubles to 1.5 thousand.
Kingad
In the summer season for quiet walks are suitable crocs or flip-flops. On marketplaces there are options from a thousand rubles. For competitions and cold weather will come in handy gidroobuvshoe or gidronoski. For 4-6 thousand rubles you can buy professional models.
The benefits of sailing
instructor, head of the Children’s Club “Wind Force”
When a child finds himself on a single-seat yacht, he becomes the captain. What does he usually do? He makes decisions, takes responsibility for his ship and steers it himself. An important skill such as independence is developed. Young athletes learn to express themselves, develop awareness and discipline. This is very important in ordinary life.
Unlike gymnastics or figure skating, a sailing career can be continued for a very long time. In what other sport will you find an Olympic champion who won a medal at 55?
Yachting has its nuances. If you are not attentive to the equipment and training conditions, there is a risk of getting chronic diseases associated with hypothermia. This is something to keep in mind.
