How to do ordinary things in the new realities. 3 tips from a psychologist

How to continue to live a normal life without guilt?

We tell you together with a psychologist.

Any change in the familiar and understandable – a noticeable stress on the psyche. Habitual rituals usually help to cope with this. They are different for everyone: morning exercises, daily workouts, reading books in the evenings, watching TV series in the company of loved ones. But in the new conditions, it seems wrong to many people to continue doing everyday things. A feeling of guilt appears, the usual way of life loses all meaning, and the condition deteriorates even more.

The feeling of inner support helps not to give in to panic moods.

What’s the problem?

Serious changes in life can knock out even the most resilient. The unknown causes everyone to feel different feelings – from mild excitement to panic attacks. In this case, many people suppress their feelings. But the background anxiety and tension still remain. Then to help come to the aid of habitual rituals that slightly reduce the degree of emotions. Daily duties and work tasks become a kind of island of stability, directing attention and energy in a constructive direction.

Veronica: But there are those who consider it sacrilege in such difficult times to do ordinary things instead of “saving the world”. Except that such a mood is very dangerous and can lead to destabilization of the mental state. To avoid this, it’s important to understand the causes and effects of your actions. Instead of getting involved in someone else’s game, it is important to be true to yourself and continue to do your own thing.

What is the right way to behave in a difficult situation?

In order not to blame yourself for the usual routine, the psychologist gives such advice.

Ignore provocations

Either do not notice, or depending on the manner in which the interlocutor communicates with you, clearly mark your boundaries and the right to do as you see fit. Among other things, work tasks and everyday tasks have not gone anywhere, you do not have to give them up.

Make a plan

If you doubt that you can stick to a routine, make a plan. Outline exactly what you can do based on your strengths and capabilities. Cross out all illegal and antisocial behaviors that may be harmful to others and see what remains.
