The development of the style was heavily influenced by Sergei Yesenin’s lover.
The dance was invented in the USA and Germany in the late 19th century to provide an alternative to the ballet form, although it was still based on it. The main popularizer of Art Nouveau was Sergei Esenin’s lover – the American dancer Isadora Duncan. The main difference of this direction was its emancipation: there was freedom of movement, and it served as a breath of fresh air in the world of dance.
The history of the emergence of modern is quite entertaining. The style was invented, on the one hand, to compete with the ballet school, and on the other – to give people of the XX century the opportunity to express themselves. The new man had completely different moral guidelines, spiritual needs, and ballet was not suitable for this.
Dancers wanted more freedom, flight of fancy, and this desire was reflected even in their appearance. The canons disappeared, it was no longer necessary to dress as for ballet, and dancing modern became barefoot.
The style has a very beautiful history, and in practice it turns out no worse. The dance is expressive and light. Master the base of Art Nouveau together with Elizaveta Gulyaeva, turn on our new video – and go!
