New Year is a time of well-deserved rest and food “permissiveness”. Therefore, winter holidays often turn into extra pounds. It is so difficult to adhere to proper nutrition, when there is a wide choice of dishes around. But you do not have to limit yourself in everything. Together with nutritiologist and trainer Andrei Semeshov, we understand how to keep your figure during the New Year holidays.
Do not eat more than necessary
When you see a buffet table, your eyes run wild and you want to try every dish. But you should watch the portion sizes and do not make yourself heavy in the stomach.
As for the “mix” of hot dishes, desserts and appetizers, nutritionist advises to pay attention to the state of the stomach. If you feel uncomfortable, it is better to eat each dish separately.
Liigu edasi
During the New Year holidays there is a lot of free time – spend it to your advantage. The trainer advises to make a rich cultural program, so that the first weeks of January did not pass around the table and refrigerator. Take a walk in the fresh air, go skiing and dance on New Year’s Eve! Keep moving and you won’t be afraid of extra pounds.
Avoid junk food
On New Year’s Eve, it’s hard to deny yourself any pleasures. Olivier, generously dressed with mayonnaise, haunts us and at breakfast on January 1, and when visiting friends. Try to find alternatives to excessive calorie dishes.
Andrew: Those who are determined not to gain excess, but at the same time would not want to bother much with the selection of the diet, you can advise to avoid frankly fatty dishes. For starters, as a dressing for salads to use not mayonnaise, but non-fat yogurt. It turns out quite tasty – try it. At least, it will reduce calories, and on the taste of the dish will be reflected not so clearly.
Consume less alcohol
According to the expert, alcohol itself does not greatly affect excess weight. However, while the body will process it, all the calories eaten risk being sent directly to the “fat depot”. When choosing a drink, take into account that strong ones whet the appetite. Rest on New Year’s Eve night properly, but afterwards, be sure to let the body recover.
Do not starve
If on the eve of the holiday dinner you do not eat all day, the risk of overeating increases. Being extremely hungry, you will eat much more than usual. According to the expert, overeating is a consequence of very strict food restrictions and lack of calories.
Andrei: From the point of view of losing weight, there is no point in starvation. It’s better to just go back to the usual diet and follow it further. One even the most abundant dinner will not turn anyone into a “fat monster”.
You should not remove your favorite holiday dishes from the New Year’s table. If you do not want to get better, make sure that the body is comfortable. In early January, return to your usual diet and do not forget about activity.
