Sushi, noodles and rice ice cream. Why are Japanese women so thin?

The inhabitants of Japan live a long and happy life. The country has long been among the leaders in life expectancy in the world. They also don’t get fat. Can you even imagine an overweight Japanese girl? If you can, you probably have a very vivid imagination. That’s because the percentage of overweight people in Japan is only 3.5. It’s one of the lowest in the world. And among the female population, it’s even lower.

Obviously, the secret of slimness of Japanese women is kept in the peculiarities of nutrition. You may be surprised, but the local cuisine was formed in conditions of total shortage of products. The fact is that in Japan there is simply very little plant and animal life. Therefore, we had to emphasize the quality of food and its usefulness. Apparently, it turned out quite well.

Rice instead of bread

The main element of Japanese cuisine. The Japanese cannot live without rice. By the way, they replace bread with it. This is one of the reasons why Japanese women retain such a phenomenal slimness. Flour products contribute to fullness, but rice, despite the high content of carbohydrates, is considered a dietary product. By the way, it is thanks to it that Japanese girls break longevity records. There is no salt, fats and cholesterol – perfect!

Fish and vegetables

Another essential component of the local cuisine is fish. Japanese women can eat fish three times a day and are especially fond of salmon. There are a lot of ways to cook it, most of which do not involve frying. By the way, the Japanese consume about a tenth of all fish production in the world. Thanks to it, you can become not only slim, but also healthy, because the risk of cardiovascular disease is greatly reduced.

Vegetables are hardly less useful. Any self-respecting Japanese woman will tell you about any varieties of onions, peppers, tomatoes and eggplants. Steamed vegetables are one of the favorite dishes of Japanese women. And, as you can imagine, incredibly healthy. Oh yes, how could you forget about seaweed! Japanese girls can’t imagine their lives without them, as they have vitamin C, potassium and iodine and a minimum of calories.

Soy, noodles and no fried meat

Another low-calorie element of the local cuisine is soy. It is mostly consumed as miso soup, tofu and the famous soy sauce, which can be added anywhere and is delicious. By the way, soy is not a native Japanese product. It came from China together with noodles, the preparation of which the Japanese have brought to a real art. Japanese girls do not recognize Western noodles and pasta, which we are used to. For them it is wildly caloric and immediately leads to a set of extra pounds. And Japanese women don’t need it at all.

Fried meat is not about Japanese cuisine at all. However, as well as any fried food. In some Japanese restaurants you will surely find some dish in breading and fried in oil, but it is rather oriented to foreign tourists. A real Japanese girl will prefer something steamed.

Green tea is better than sake

Slender Japanese women will tell you a lot about the secrets of tea drinking. Green tea has antioxidants that both positively affect your figure and slow down the body’s aging process. Not a bad combo, is it? If someone still thinks that the main drink in Japan is sake, he is very wrong. Green tea and nothing else. And at least several times a day.

No large portions!

Now we come to the main explanation why there is no word obesity in the lexicon of Japanese women. In the Land of the Rising Sun are not accepted large portions, traditional for the United States or Russia, for example. In Japan, all portions are very modest, again, unless we are talking about popular tourist establishments, which are oriented to a different public. Small portions have nothing to do with the fact that the Japanese are greedy people. It is a special food culture. The main basis of Japanese healthy eating is to eat little but often.

The only thing that can be dense is breakfast. But breakfast for a Japanese girl is not croissants and buns, as in France, for example. It’s miso soup with tofu, scrambled eggs with seaweed and smoked salmon. And to drink it all, of course, with green tea.

What about sweets?

In Japan there is no concept of expiration date. They’re used to eating only fresh food. Many of them do not even have dates of preparation and use written on them, and if they do, it is not about days, but about hours. A Japanese girl will never boil soup or make cutlets a week in advance so that she doesn’t have to bother with cooking later. Warming up food in the microwave is wild.

What about sweets, you ask. Don’t Japanese girls like sweets? Of course they do. They adore chocolate, ice cream and various cakes, but they eat them much less often and in smaller quantities than in other countries. And in general, Japanese desserts are not caloric. What to say, if even ice cream they have learned to make from rice! Maybe it is not so tasty, but no extra kilos and a great figure. There’s plenty to choose from.
