What are they wearing? Famous athletes at the GQ Man of the Year Awards

Recently, the GQ men’s magazine awards ceremony was held in Moscow, bringing together musicians, actors, directors, athletes, businessmen and even restaurateurs every year. At the event, guests heard the names of winners in various categories. For example, “Man of the Year”, “Discovery of the Year” or “Sportsman of the Year”.

We found out who from the representatives of sports attended the sensational social event. Let’s see how well they observed the traditional dress code.

Alexander Ovechkin

The forward of the Washington Capitals and the Russian national hockey team won the Sportsman of the Year nomination. According to the voting results, Ovechkin surpassed Khabib Nurmagomedov, Karen Khachanov, Evgeny Klimov and Pavel Kulizhnikov. Although Alexander was not present at the event itself, he chose to appear at the photo shoot for the award wearing a cotton shirt with a bowtie thrown over his shoulders and a classic black suit from Dolce&Gabbana.

Karen Khachanov

Although the tennis player did not receive the title of sportsman of the year, but won in a special nomination King of the Year. Khachanov appeared at the shoot for the award in a total Dolce&Gabbana look: a tuxedo with satin details, white cotton shirt, bow tie and black leather shoes. Karen was unable to attend the glass statuette presentation, so he recorded a video message for the audience while dressed in accordance with the dress code.

Fyodor Smolov

The striker of Lokomotiv Moscow and the Russian national soccer team is not the first year to attend the GQ award. This time Smolov decided to move away from the strict classical style and choose a suit from Ralph Lauren with an eye-catching white print.

Yevgeny Plushenko

The two-time Olympic champion in men’s figure skating came to the award with his wife, TV presenter and producer Yana Rudkovskaya. Evgeny favored a classic black tuxedo with a bowtie, white shirt and patent loafers.

Tatiana Navka

The figure skater chose for the award a luxurious blue velvet dress with a deep neckline, a silver clutch and jewelry made of white gold and sapphires. However, as fans noticed, the frank neckline on the dress did not make the image vulgar. Tatiana still knows how to surprise!

Alexei Nemov

The gymnast and four-time Olympic champion did not change the classics either, choosing a black suit and a shirt with the top button undone. Alexei and his wife Galina, who came in a black floor-length dress, complemented each other perfectly.

Vladimir Voloshin

The successful businessman and triathlete also did not miss the main event of the year from GQ. He chose to appear at the award in a black tuxedo from Hugo Boss, complementing the image with a Carl F. Bucherer watch.

Samira Mustafajeva

The multiple winner of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships and founder of SM Stretching studios chose a sophisticated black dress with dropped shoulders and a cutout on the leg.

Andrey Kupreev

The professional wrestler, master of sports in sambo and judo, as well as silver medalist of the world championship in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, did not miss the annual event. Andrei preferred black pants, a jacket with lapels highlighted in the tone of a bow tie and a white shirt with contrasting black buttons.
